Rumus Verb Patterns
Untuk mempelajari verb dalam tingkatan yang lebih jauh, ada beberapa rumus yang harus kalian
hafalkan dan pelajari. Dan, berikut ini yang saya cantumkan adalah beberapa macam pola atau
rumus dari verb patterns, yaitu:
1. verb + verb + ing

2. verb + object + verb + ing
3. verb + to + verb
4. verb + object + to + verb
5. active causative: verb + object + verb
6. passive causative: verb + object + past participle
7. verb+ indirect object + direct object
8. phrasal verb: verb + preposition + object
9. linking verb: verb + Noun / Adjective

untuk penggunaan polanya sendiri, sebenarnya tidak harus sesuai dengan rumus, penempatannya
bisa lebih fleksibel. Mari kita ambil pattern pada nomor delapan sebagai contoh. Pada pattern itu
rumus yang tertulis adalah verb + preposition + object. Tetapi ternyata saya memiliki contoh
kalimat yang memiliki susuan rumus yang berbeda dengan umus awal yaitu I heard that her
granny pass away because of heart attack, dimana pada kalimat ini object (her granny) berada di
depan verb (pass) dan preposition (away).
Dalam penggunaannya, rumus dari verb patterns memang bisa lebih fleksibel, dan biasanya
walau dalam penerapannya pada suatu kalimat, rumus dasar yang ditetapkan memang bisa
diacak tetapi rumus dasar tersebut biasanya akan selalu terletak berdekatan dan biasanya juga
tidak dipisahkan oleh bentuk kata lainnya. Kalimat her granny pass away tentunya berbeda
dengan rumus dasarnya bukan? Tetapi, walaupun verb, preposition, dan object terletak secara
acak, ketiganya terletak berdekatan tanpa dipisahkan oleh suatu bentuk kata lainnya.
