Strength of Nissan

Technological innovation:

According to Notesmatic (2021), Nissan has created an automated driving system called as
Nissan Pro-Pilot, an e-pedal which acknowledges acceleration, deceleration and complete
brake with a pedal. The steering, acceleration and brake is a combination that functioning
fully in an automatic mode for highways purpose and relieving the weight on the driver.
Apart from that, the superior imaging technology is expended to recognize the traffic and
navigate the motor vehicle through it is used by the Pro-pilot automated driving structure.
In addition, according to Nissan (2021), the company introduced a new model called as X-
Trail facelift. This mentioned model is designed to create fuel efficiently and provide great
experience for driver with smooth and silent acceleration. Moreover, this model also has a
great functions namely intelligent forward collision warning (I-FCW) and intelligent forward
emergency braking (I-FEB). This function is useful to avoid danger of a frontward clash and
decrease the severity of a collision. Another function is the intelligent around view monitor
(I-AVM) provide better experience for driver while parking with its intelligent moving object
direction (i-MOD).

Nissan has large product portfolio :


Nissan has a rich product portfolio that can meet the basic needs of customers of all social
levels (Notesmatic 2021). The company has a variety of vehicles such as pick-up trucks,
SUVs, sedan and sport cars. In the past two years, Nissan released new automobile with
those equipped with electrified models and Pro Pilot technology. The company has
accomplished a huge sale of 400,000 units of Nissan Leaf Electrical vehicles in March 2019.
Currently, Nissan Leaf is ranked as the world’s best-selling EV with over 400,000 units sold
since its launch in 2010 (Rahimi Yunus 2019). The automobile is secure, proficient and
provide satisfying driving experience for drivers. Thus, Nissan remain upgrading Leaf to
uphold its reputation in the worldwide. Other than that, SUVs and pick-up trucks are the
popularity of Nissan and they gain sales from these two automobiles. Other than these, the
company also introduced appealing sports car models including a roadster. In Japan, Nissan
is the next leading car maker and has closer image to sport cars . For an example, Z and the
GT-R are their popular sports car lines (Faizul Haque 2021). In the year 2019, they also
introduced a subcompact SUV named the Nissan kicks ( Notesmatic 2021).

1. Brand Image as a Sporty Car Maker – Nissan is Japan’s


second-biggest automaker, and also its image is closer to
sports cars, unlike other car companies. They have to

Technological innovation : 
Technological innovation is the key to faster growth in the automobile industry. The growth
of digital technology, AI and changing lifestyles of customers around the world also
necessitate higher investment in research and development. Research and development
expenses of the company climbed to 495.8 Billion Yen in 2017 compared to 490.4 billion
Yen in 2016 (Nissan Annual Report). The company has established seven research
centers around the world. Three of these research centers are in Japan and rest in U.S.A.,
Russia and India. One of the core focuses in terms of research and development at Nissan is
electrification. The focus of Nissan Intelligent mobility is to create solutions that make
driving more exciting, connected and safer.                             
Some of the innovations created by Nissan include Nissan Pro-pilot, an automated driving
system, an epedal which allows for acceleration, deceleration and complete braking using just
one pedal. Nissan’s Propilot is designed for use on highways and works to significantly ease
the load on the driver by offering a combination of steering, acceleration and braking that can
work in fully automatic mode. The Propilot automated driving system uses advanced imaging
technology to understand the traffic and steer the vehicle through it. Other areas where
Nissan has focused its research and development efforts include e-powertrain and Lithium
ion battery for EVs.

The Hybrid powertrain is designed to balance performance with significant increases

Nissan has a large product portfolio to cater to the varying needs and lifestyles of different
customer segments. From sedans to pickup-trucks, SUVs and sports cars, the company has
brought a large range of vehicles.  Nissan has proved to be a smart automobile brand that has
touched the lives of various customer segments through its large product portfolio. The
company keeps releasing new models to suit the expectations and needs of modern
consumers. The auto industry is changing fast and various consumer demographics have
