In part 2, questions and answers are not printed in the test. You only hear one question and 3 options
for each question and then choose the answer that matches the question.
You will have to try to remember both the question and the 3 options so having a good short-term
memory is an advantage. Which sentences you cannot hear should be skipped to prepare for the next
sentence.
a. Wh-question
A type of question with “question words” such as Where, When, Who, How, Why.
For example: Who has the copy of the report? (Who has a copy of the report?)
Where can I buy a new desk? Where can I buy a new chair?
b. Yes / No question
This is a type of question that the listener can answer Yes or No.
For example: Haven’t you had lunch? (Haven’t you had lunch yet?)

c. Tag question (question tail)
A form of questions with the first paragraph like the affirmative sentence, but at the end the question
“right?”
Example: The report is hard to understand, isn’t it? (The report is hard to understand, isn’t it?)
d. Suggestion / request
For example: Would you like to walk to the convention center? (Do you want to walk to the
convention center?)
Thats sounds like a great idea. (That seems like a great idea.)
e. Statement
A statement is an opinion form, the answer usually gives the opinion: agree/disagree or neutral.
For example: The neighbors upstairs are so noisy. (The neighbors upstairs are noisy.)
g. Choice question
This type of question often has “or” appears.
For example: Would you like the table inside or outside? (Do you want to get the table inside or
outside?)
I’ll take the table inside. (I’ll take the table inside)

1. This is the easiest question type in part 2. You only need to select the answer that contains Yes or
No in the answer.

• Why not?

• Learn and remember the types of questions and answers corresponding to each type of question.
• Listen carefully to the question at the first word to determine the type of question.
• Listen to the answers and use the exclusion method to choose the correct answers.
• For beginners, the spelling method as I shared in part 1 can still be applied effectively to increase the
ability to hear correctly.
