Group assignment on management theory and practice

1. Review an article and Compare & contrast the leadership style model of Fiedler with the
situational theory of Hersey & Blanchard. Both are contingency theories, but how does their use
of the concepts “task”& “relationship” differ? Which one seems most useful? Why?

2. How does a transformational leader brings about change? What personal behavior helps the
transformation process?

3. Think of organization you know & identify what you think is the most significant change it
has made in the last five years. What factors influenced the change? Was the change resisted? If
so, by whom& why? Apply afield analysis in your example.

4. Both leadership researchers &corporate executive contend that too many organizations are
overmanaged &underled. In your own words, what are the difference between managers &
leaders? Why do organizations need both?

5. Describe different leadership styles, approaches, and their applications to different scenarios

of character that this person has? Are we born with these qualities or are they learned behaviors?
