1 Quantity and location of devices are indicative only. Refer to floor plan layout for final quantity and location.

Fire Detection and Alarm Systems - Design Development

1. Detailed drawing layouts should be provided showing the following:

a. Roughing-ins distribution inclusive of sizes based on established fire


compartmentation and zoning.
b. Cable distribution inclusive of type and sizes based on established
compartmentation and zoning.
c. Control panels, notification, initiation devices, etc. locations.
d. Monitoring devices for sprinkler system interface and, mechanical life safety
system interface.
e. Facilities and systems that needs to be integrated.

2. Detailed system diagram reflecting roughing-in sizes, cable type, equipment, and
their respective locations of the following:
a. Interface to life safety system. (Ex. Fire Detection and Alarm, EVAC, etc.).

b. Over-all network system architecture based on established fire


compartmentation and zoning inclusive of the head-end equipment and devices.

3. Miscellaneous details showing the sizes and setting of the following:


a. Typical installation and make of roughing-ins (Ex. Conduits, Trunkings, etc.).
b. Distribution rooms layout.
c. Typical detector, sounders, strobes, etc. installation and layout.
d. Typical monitoring interface device installation and layout.
e. Control room layout.

4. Preparation of specifications technically describing the following:


a. General description and design intent of the system.
b. Scope of works and expectations from contractors.
c. Typical installation and make of control panels.
d. Typical installation and make of roughing-ins (Ex. Conduits, Trunkings, etc.).
e. Notification, initiation and interface devices.
f. Operating software’s and programming tools.
g. Cable types and applications.
h. Gateways, servers, and workstations.
i. Testing and commissioning procedures.
