For cables that consist of more than 12 cores, the color code repeats itself. Each group of 12 cores is
identified with some other means such as:
Multiple buffer tubes each with 12 or less cores either numbered or color following the same color code,
e.g., 1st tube is blue, 2nd is orange, etc.
24 strand groups with the color code repeating with some variation, e.g., the 1st group of 12 cores are
solid colors and the 2nd groups are solid colors with a stripe or some other identifying mark.

2.1. Mechanical
The mechanical performance of the cable includes items like tensile strength, crush.
Resistance impact, repeated bending, torsion, coiling, flexing and sheath abrasion. The cable mechanical
requirements shall qualify and comply with IEC 60794 (series latest version) standards.
2.2. Environmental
The optical fibre cable may experience environments such as Tension, Bending, Crushing, Twisting,
Abrasion, Temperature extremes and Chemical actions during storage, installation and services. The
cable environmental properties shall qualify and comply with IEC 60794 (series latest version) standards.

4. Optical Requirements
The minimum optical performance requirements for G.652, G.655 and G.657 fibres are outlined in Table
3, Table 4 and 5 respectively.
