1. We added a column (i.e. Student No.

) after the C1-C5 columns from the given dataset and


assigned it for the student number of the respondents. The student numbers are from 1 to
207.
Column G then is named Random Sample. We used the formula =RAND() for this
column to assign a random number for each student. This formula was typed in cell G2, we
just used Autofill for the rest of the cells in the column.
Column G (Random Sample) was copied and pasted as Value to replace the functions
with the actual values to avoid generating new numbers whenever anything changes on the
page. Then we sorted Random Sample from smallest to largest expanding the selection to all
columns. This now arranged the rows randomly.
The first 50 students from the randomly arranged list now become the members of the
sample.
