Instruction: Briefly answer the following questions
1. What is the appropriate thing to do when being cyberbullied?
- In my opinion, the appropriate thing to do when being cyberbullied is to just let
these bullies be. I will not stoop down their level and I will not respond to any
remarks that they’re giving to me online. It is better not to engage with these
bullies. I would rather let them be and keep track or record everything that
they’ve been saying or posting about me so that, when time comes, I’ll be able to
hand evidence of the things they have done. Also, there’s a block option on
social media, I can use that option to block them and avoid being mentioned or
being messaged by them. Aside from these, I would also reach out to my trusted
people and I will also report them to a council or organization that advocates
preventing cyberbullying.
2. What is the appropriate thing to do when being attacked by phishing scam and/or spam
emails?
- The appropriate thing to do when being attacked by phishing scam and/or spam
emails is by verifying the sender of the email by checking their email address.
There are companies that use an official email to send their messages. Also, if
there are any links embedded or buttons that lead you to a certain website, never
ever try to click it. It is also important to be careful in providing your personal or
sensitive information. Never ever also panic if ever you ever provided your
information to untrusted websites. If ever you have received scam emails and
such, report it to the authority that handles situations like that.
3. Why do you think it is important to learn and understand online safety, and the rules of
netiquette?
- In my opinion, I think that it is important to learn and understand online safety and
the rules of netiquette because it helps us to surf the internet safely. Learning and
understanding the rules of netiquette and online safety helps us to know the
things that may become dangerous to us. It also helps us to be responsible even
when we're online. With rules of netiquette, we are able to prevent problems such
 cyberbullying, plagiarising, and such. It is important that we also be respectful
and polite in everything that we do online as if we are doing it in real life.
4. Now that you know about the basic netiquette rules, what are the changes that you
should apply to your behaviour on the internet?
- Now that I have learned the basic netiquette rules, I believe that the rule that I
should apply in regards to my behavior on the internet is, make real people a
priority. To be honest, I have this habit of always checking or using my phone
whenever I’m with someone especially if they’re a friend that is not so close to
me. I use this habit to prevent the awkwardness between me and that person.
And I often get anxious whenever I don’t check my phone from time to time
because there were instances wherein I missed some messages from my group
mates and professors because I wasn’t to check my phone thus, I always check
my phone.
5. How is online safety and netiquette rules helpful as you engage in your respective
professional tracks?
- In my opinion, online safety and netiquette is helpful as I engage in my soon to
be profession. I believe that once I become a nurse, I’ll be having rough days at
work like what I experience right now as a student. With social media and the
internet being accessible, it's just easy for me to vent out my feelings. Although
my posts are harmless, sometimes it could lead to danger. I believe that the
same thing would happen in the future and with online safety and netiquette
rules, I’ll be able to prevent that danger. Also, as a person who will work with a lot
of patients, their privacy is one of my priorities. It is important to respect the
patient’s privacy and not violate their confidentiality. Also, it’s important that if I
ever post about medical information in the internet, it is important that I do a fact
check and it is accurate to prevent misinforming people.
