Cellrod

Closed cell polyethylene backing rod

Description Technical Properties:

Cellrod is a closed-cell polyethylene foam cord, non- Density:
0.04 g/cm³
absorbent and rot proof. Cellrod holds in posi on ASTM D792
between both sides of the joint to help with tooling of
Cell size:
the sealant and improve sealant contact with joint side to 0.82 mm
ASTM D3576
facilitate good adhesion.
Water absorp on:
0.08 mg/cm²
Applications ASTM D570

Cellrod enables the correct width to depth ra o of the Elonga on at break:

60%
sealing slot to be maintained and provides a firm backing ASTM D638
for the sealant to be tooled. Shore A Hardness:
20 ± 5
ASTM D2240
The use of Cellrod acts as a bond breaker at the base of
the joint thus preven ng three-sided adhesion and the Service temperature: -20 to 100°C
accompanying addi onal stress during joint movement. Applica on temperature: -5 to 100°C

Advantages Service life: + 20 years

Sealant
Standards

Cellrod complies with ASTM C1330, Type C and ASTM

D5249, Type 3.

Method of Use

Cellrod diameter should be greater than the joint width

by 20% to 25%. This will insure that it is held in posi on
and the joint width/depth ra o is maintained.

Cellrod cords may be installed by pushing to fit into joints.
