QUANTITATIVE HCV PCR [ Final Report ]

This is an electronic report & not

Result: Negative

Hepatitis C virus RNA is not detected.

to be used for any legal purposes

Method:
RNA was extracted from specimen and amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR)
using COBAS® AmpliPrep/COBAS® TaqMan® HCV Quantitative Test

Comments:
1.Lower limit of detection of this assay is 15 IU/ml.The quantifiable range of this
assay is upto 10,000,000 IU/ml.
2.The conversion factor for HCV 1IU/ml= 5.82 copies/ mL.
3.The sensitivity of this assay is 99% and specificity 99%.
4.HCV RNA may be detectable in the absence of anti-HCV antibody titers in the case
of early diagnosis within the window period of infection.
5.Viral titers may fluctuate therefore a single negative HCV RNA test should not be
used to rule out HCV infection.
6.The sensitivity of different HCV RNA detection methods should be considered when
comparing results of different laboratory tests.
7.Correlation of these results with clinical features and other laboratory findings
is highly recommended.
8.The performance characteristics of this assay have been validated by the AKUH
Clinical Laboratory.
