Dear Grandma,

I wanted to use this letter to thank you for every moment you have spent thinking and
caring about me and my sister’s futures. I know that you spend so much time and sacrifice so
much just to help us in any possible way. I wanted to give a few examples of ways you have
changed my life in huge ways.
I have always wanted to explain how without your encouragement I would never have
played piano and especially never would have stuck with it. Also, I would not be minoring in
piano performance without your support. I am so grateful that you consistently pushed and
challenged me to improve and continue practicing even when I did not want to. Piano has been
a huge joy in my life and that joy only grows as I keep playing. Piano has also brought about a
lot of opportunities such as playing worship for churches and playing in a band with friends
which both have allowed me to meet some great people. Without you I would not be playing
piano and have gotten to experience all the great things that come with that.
The most important effect you have on my life is my faith. You were one of the few
people in my life that I could look up to and see and example of what a Christian is. Your love
and compassion towards others showed me what it meant to be a Christian more than in
sermon really could. I do believe that because of your faith in God the holy spirit worked through
you to bring me to Christ. Just like with piano I was initially hesitant, but you made me go to
confirmation class and Sunday school when I was younger but now that I am also a Christian I
understand why you made me go and am so grateful that you did. Becoming I Christian has
changed my life in every possible way. From the reason I do everything I do to how I act and
even what people are around me. I am so incredibly grateful for your example as a Christian
and your patience in developing my faith.

Love Your Grandson,

Rory
