Abstract

Strong and fast networks have rapidly become more and more important to current-day

citizens. With the pandemic of 2020, more people had to work from home, whether that

be their job or school. 53% of Americans Say the Internet Has Been Essential During

the COVID-19 Outbreak (Vogels). Regardless, that meant that millions of people

depended on a strong enough internet connection to get them through their workday.

With millions of people using the internet, it led to people having weak internet issues.

We believe that implementing a stronger network, a 5G network, will help solve that

problem that led us to lose many of our customers and sales because our network

wasn’t strong enough. 5G is the fifth generation of cellular networks. it has evolved from

the previous generation staring at generation 1G. it is a newer, stronger, and more

powerful network. It is being used across the world to generate more jobs, increase

revenue, and more. The connectivity benefits of 5G are expected to make businesses

more efficient and give consumers access to more information faster than ever before

(Verizon). By implementing this we would be able to provide a reliable network to

Americans at an affordable price and attainable. This would take away the constant

worry of citizens when their internet fails them and causes daily stress. On top of that, it

would give the company the opportunity to build itself back up after the pandemic

caused us to lose money and customers. As 5G is implemented we hope to increase

our coverage as much as possible and assist millions of Americans and their internet

needs.

iii
Introduction

Purpose

KSCbytes is wanting to begin the implementation of 5G towers to create a stronger

network within our company of 5G. We want to provide our customers with the strongest

internet connection available at an affordable rate, in order to help with the stress of the

pandemic and weak internet.

Problem

Currently, KSCbytes is operating off of a 4G network, the issue with this is that the need

for stronger internet sources is steadily increasing, there are networks out there that are

stronger than ours, causing us to lose customers. And since Americans are depending

on good internet providers, we are not seen as an option. Therefore, by implementing

5G, it will not only strengthen our company’s network, but it will also gain our customers

back to increase our sales again. Not many companies are offering this higher network

so we still have an opportunity to put our companies name out there before the

competition increases heavily.

Description

1
We have proposed to replace all of KSCbytes current 4G network towers with the

upgraded 5G towers. By doing this we will be able to start up our 5G internet and slowly

make it available to the customers. A small tower and 5G cell sites cost

$30,000–$50,000 (Thompson). So we plan to budget our companies money in order to

be able to replace every current tower. We will also make sure that if our current towers

aren’t scattered enough, we will scatter the newer 5G towers in order to get the farthest

coverage for customers.

Pros and Benefits

Benefits of 5G

5G has many benefits such as greater speed in the transmissions, lower latency and

therefore greater capacity of remote execution, a greater number of connected devices,

and the possibility of implementing virtual networks (network slicing), providing more

adjusted connectivity to concrete needs (IOT). This basically means that we can access

a higher speed, our devices respond faster, and our connection adjusts more

specifically to our needs.

Sales Improvement

2
When we successfully implement 5G networks within our company, we estimate that by

2023, we will have a +94% increase in our customers compared to 2019, which was the

downfall of our company. Statistics show that in four years, about 4.1 billion people will

have access to 5G coverage, according to an analysis by Bankr. This is a growth of

254% by 2025 (Combs). And we want to be one of the companies that make that

happen. By doing so, we can promote our business and gain customers as well since

everyone is looking for a company that provides 5G at an affordable price and that is

accessible. 5G will bring the company back up and once again improve our sales as

well.

Customer Gain

With many Americans being so interested in 5G, we anticipate that we will gain many

customers because of our affordable plan that we will release to the public after the

installation of our 5G towers.

Cons

Estimated Cost

With the implementation, it is estimated that implementing 5G across the country would

be about $130-$150 billion over the course of 5-7 for the U.S. network as a whole

(Macri). We understand the costs of this project and we have devised a solid budget in

order for this project to be successful for our company to grow stronger.

Downsides

Some of the disadvantages would be things like the cost like we mentioned in the

previous paragraph, which is very expensive but it is something we can work with.

3
Another downside may be that others say it will replace battery capacity for speed

(Gunnarsson). Or that with 5G, the addition of even more cells will cause the spectrum

to be more overcrowded than it already is. Even though 5G will dramatically increase

the speed at which the internet will function, the stress that it will place on the spectrum

as a whole may cause more problems than anticipated (Alvarez). We can see that with

5G there are many good and bad things, but we firmly believe that the benefits

completely outweigh the downsides of this project. We believe that the continuation of

this project will be the best not only for customers but for the companies growth and

sales as well.

Competition

Larger and more known companies are quickly implementing their own 5G networks as

well, which is precisely why we are choosing to move on with this project quickly in

order to gain customers before other companies take them first. The competition will be

high within the 5G networks but with our plan, we believe that our company will currently

offer the best plan with an affordable, attainable, and strong network connection.

Conclusion/ Summary

KSCbytes’ goal is to give our customers the fastest internet possible while boosting and

rebuilding our company at the same time. We want to be available enough for anyone to

join our network which is why we are pursuing 5G, to gain a strong, fast network, with

wide coverage because our customers are always put first in our company.
