Literature, a form of any printed or written matter within a book, paper, magazine or a
phamplet. Said to be the faithful reproduction of mans manifold experiences blended into one
harmonious expression. But the true literature is a piece of written work which is undying. It expresses
the feelings and emotion of people in response to his everyday efforts to live, to be happy in his
environment and after his struggles to reach his creator (Atienza Ramos, et.al). On the other hand, every
country has its own literary works that has been change over time and passed on from generation to
generation. And as for ours the Philippine literature has began to change during the Pre-colonial period.
Some of the literary works are the traditional narrative, novels, songs, and speeches of a particular area
of the country or based on the tradition. It had been evolved much over varying period of time and it is
full of legends and tales of colonial legacy. And as the time goes by and as the literature changes within,
people still gradually accept it and in so many ways like giving your attention and having interest and
appreciate the work.
First, in way of giving your attention. Each person has the ability to quickly cope or respond to
something new and unexpected. In simple word, person’s attention can easily be captured. That is why
we can adapt or accept a sudden change over something especially in the Philipphine literature.
Example, in the novel of our famous country hero named Dr. Jose Protacio Rizal “Noli Me Tangere” and
“El Filibustersimo” that has been written during the Spanish conquest of the country. During that time
the said novel is been written in spanish language but later translated into tagalog. Also in each passing
year the story is being revised to be clearly understand by the people but it still come out with the same
content of the searching indictment of friar abuse as well as of colonial rule’s shortcomings. Also in a
way of having interest and appreciates the literary work. Having both interest and appreciate is a simple
way of showing adaptitbilty to the diverse Philippine literary history.
To sum it up, Philippine literature's diversity has evolved side by side with the history of the
particular region or country. In the perception of the pre-colonial cultural practices of the nation and the
sociopolitical backgrounds of its colonial and contemporary traditions or events, that can better be
understood. We want to hear about the literature of our own. Respect it and enjoy it. And by giving
attention, having interest and appreciation you can show a sense of adaptability to it.
