Calculations
-Explanation of work-
-From #4, we deduced that the dream car produced
2,661,136.2 grams of octane while the other car produced
Dream Car
2,433,966.0 grams of octane when rounded. In order to
convert these numbers into liters of CO2, we first placed
our answers from #4 into the first box(as shown on the
right) as they were in the form of grams of octane.

-We then looked at the periodic table to find the molar Other Car
mass of octane which came out to be 114. Since we were
converting to moles first, the 114 went to the denominator.
After that we had to return back to the chemical equation
for the combustion of octane
2C8H18 + 25O2 → 16CO2 + 18H2O

-Explanation of work-
-When balanced, the coefficient of octane was 2 while
Dream Car the coefficient of CO2 was 16. Since the molar mass of
octane was on the denominator and we still had another
CO2 octane to cancel out from the numerator, we decided to
put the 2 moles of C8H18in the denominator and the 16
mol of CO2 in the numerator

Other Car -Lastly, we needed to convert the moles into liters,

which we did by multiplying 22.4 to the numerator
which got us to our final answer for both cars. Our
CO2 dream car produced 4,183,119.36 liters of CO2 while our
other car produced 3,826,023.805 liters of CO2

Conclusion:
Which car is better environmentally?

Our first dream car, which was the Bugatti Chiron

Super Sport 300+, produced 4,183,119.36 liters of
CO2 in total. The vehicle needed 2,091,559 of 2 liter
bottles to contain the carbon dioxide, whereas for the
other car, the amount of liters of CO2 produced was
3,826,023.805 liters of CO2 in total and needed
1,913,011.903 of 2 liter bottles to contain. Although
carbon dioxide is a natural element that helps
regulate the environment, it can be very unsafe as
well. An excessive amount of carbon dioxide
exposed into the atmosphere can cause substantial
negative effects towards plant growth. This is
because it significantly attains the sun’s heat in which
it raises the temperature in the environment. This
also leads to climate change because it pollutes the
air. Since the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ car
produced more CO2 than the White Mercedes-Benz
Sprinter car, our dream car is not environmentally
friendly.
