Calculations
-Explanation of work-
-From #4, we deduced that the dream car produced
2,661,136.2 grams of octane while the other car produced
Dream Car
2,433,966.0 grams of octane when rounded. In order to
convert these numbers into liters of CO2, we first placed
our answers from #4 into the first box(as shown on the
right) as they were in the form of grams of octane.
-We then looked at the periodic table to find the molar Other Car
mass of octane which came out to be 114. Since we were
converting to moles first, the 114 went to the denominator.
After that we had to return back to the chemical equation
for the combustion of octane
2C8H18 + 25O2 → 16CO2 + 18H2O

-Explanation of work-
-When balanced, the coefficient of octane was 2 while
Dream Car the coefficient of CO2 was 16. Since the molar mass of
octane was on the denominator and we still had another
CO2 octane to cancel out from the numerator, we decided to
put the 2 moles of C8H18in the denominator and the 16
mol of CO2 in the numerator
