Traditional Attire

Description
The upper garment made of abaca (Musa
textiles). It also called “Pana-en” in
Tagakaolo It is worn by men of the
Tagakaolo ethnolinguistic group belonging
to the upper class. It was worn during
special occasions and rituals. Its
intricateness is a manifestation of the
passion and skill of the Tagakaolo weavers.

The lower garments is also made of Abaca.


The details of the garments represents the
pride of the Tagakaolo.

It is a piece cloth, almost square, wrapped


around the head. The pictures show the
typical style of wrapping of the Tagakaolu.

The embroided blouse or “Bong Panayan” the


upper garment of Female Tagakaolo. And it
also made of Abaca. Beside of the detailed
weav it has beads design in every part of the
blouse.
