Question 1

a. Find the sum of the terms of sequence 5 + 8 + 11 +……… 68. [3]


b. If −5 is a root of the quadratic equation 2𝑥 2 + 𝑝𝑥 = 15 and the quadratic equation
𝑝(𝑥 2 + 𝑥 ) + 𝑘 = 0 has equal roots, find the value of k. [3]
c. ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral in which ∠ DAC = 27°; ∠ DBA = 50° and ∠ ADB = 33°.
Calculate: ∠ DBC, ∠ DCB and ∠ CAB. [4]

Question 2

a. A recurring deposit account of ₹ 1,200 per month has a maturity value of ₹ 12,440.
If the rate of interest is 8% and the interest is calculated at the end of every month,
find the time (in months) of this recurring deposit account. [3]

b. In the given figure  PQR =  PST = 900, PQ= 5 cm and PS = 2 cm. [3]
i. Prove that  PQR ~  PST.
ii. Find the area of  PQR: area of quadrilateral SRQT.

c. Draw a histogram for the given data using a graph paper and estimate the mode from the graph.

Question 4

a. For a trader, marked price of a refrigerator is ₹ 15,680 inclusive of GST at the rate of 12%
on the marked price. Sunil, a customer for this refrigerator, asks the trader to reduce the
marked price of the refrigerator to such extend that its reduced price plus GST on it is
equal to marked price of the refrigerator. Find the required reduction. [3]

b. A (1, -5), B (2, 2) and C (-2, 4) are the vertices of  ABC, find the equation of
the median of the triangle through the vertex A. [3]

c. Prove that: (sin A + secA)2 + (cosA + cosecA)2 = (1+ secA.cosecA)2 [4]

a. The mean of 1, 7, 5, 3, 4 and 4 is m. The numbers 3, 2, 4, 2, 3, 3 and p have mean as (m-1)


and median as q. Find p and q. [3]

b. In the figure given below PQ = QR, ∠RQP = 68°, PC and CQ are tangents to the circle
with centre O. Calculate the values of: i) ∠QOP ii) ∠QCP. [3]

c. Using the factor theorem, show that (x-2) is a factor of 𝑥 3 + 𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 − 4.Hence factorise the
polynomial completely. [4]

iii. a composite number between 50 and 70

a. 3080 cm3 of water is required to fill a cylindrical vessel completely and 2310 cm 3 of water is
required to fill it up to 5 cm below the top. [3]
Find:
i. radius of the vessel.
ii. height of the vessel.
iii. wetted surface area of the vessel when it is half-filled with water.

b. In the following figure, a circle is inscribed in the quadrilateral ABCD. If BC = 38 cm [3]


QB = 27 cm, DC = 25 cm and that AD is perpendicular to DC, find the radius of the circle.

c. Use a graph paper to plot the given points: [4]
i. A (0,5), B (2,5), C (5,2), D (5, -2), E (2, -5) and F (0, -5).
ii. Reflect B, C, D and E on the y-axis and name these points as B’, C’, D’ and E’
respectively and write their co-ordinates.
iii. Name the figure formed by BCDEE’D’C’B’.
iv. Name a line of symmetry for the figure formed.
Question 9

a. In the given figure, AC is a transverse common tangent to two circles with centres P and Q
and of radii 6 cm and 3 cm respectively. Given that AB = 8 cm, calculate PQ. [3]

b. The sum of the 4th and 8th terms of an AP is 24 and the sum of the 6th and the 10th terms is 44.
Find the first three terms of the AP. [3]

c. From a solid cylinder whose height is 16 cm and radius is 12 cm, a conical cavity of height 8 cm
and of base radius 6 cm is hollowed out. Find the volume and total surface area of the remaining
solid. [4]

b. For a dealer A, the list price of an article is ₹ 9000, which he sells to dealer B at some lower price.
Further, dealer B sells the same article to a customer at its list price. If the rate of GST is 18% and
dealer B paid a tax, under GST, equal to ₹ 324 to the government, find the amount paid by dealer
B (inclusive of GST). [3]

c. The following table shows the lifetime in days of 100 electric bulbs of a certain make. Find the
mean lifetime of electric bulbs by using step deviation method. [4]

Question 11

a. The horizontal distance between two towers is 120 m. The angles of elevation of the top
and angle of depression of the bottom of the first tower as observed form the second tower are
30° and 24° respectively. Find the height of the two towers. Give your answer correct to
3 significant figures. [4]

b. The marks obtained by 200 students in an examination are given below. Draw an Ogive
for following distribution and use it to estimate: [6]
i. The median marks
ii. The number of students who failed if minimum marks required to pass is 40.
iii. If scoring 85 and more is considered as grade one, find the number of students who secured
grade one in the examination.
