    PARTS OF THE COMPUTER (more!)

    Refer to the parts chart and the definitions found in the WORD GUIDE.

    Words for the week: Return/Enter Key, Alternate Key, NumLock, Menu Bar, Delete,
    Backspace, Shift Keys, Cursor, Toolbars, Icon/Button.

    Write the correct word next to its definition: (Put your cursor next to the dashes and
    start typing.)

    1. A location on the monitor screen to mouse click and perform -- Icon/ Button
    many different operations.
    2. Accessible through VIEW, they provide multiple options for many -- Tool Bars
    different features.
    3. A blinking line or arrow on the screen that shows your location. -- Cursor
    4. Keys used to make capital letter and other symbols. -- Shift Keys
    5. Key that when pushed deletes the character to the left of cursor. -- Backspace
    6. A key that when struck removes a segment of text. -- Delete
    7. A blue line at the top of the screen displaying many options such as -- Menu Bar
    File, edit, view, insert, etc.
    8. A key used to switch the numeric keypad between numeric entry -- Num Lock
    editing.
    9. A key that when struck immediately before or as another key is hit -- Control
    causes that key to perform a special function.
    10. A key that when truck causes the cursor to move to the left margin -- Enter (Return)
    and down to the next line.

    11. Keys that move the cursor in the direction indicated. -- Arrows Keys
    12. Special keys at the top of the keyboard, also called F Keys. -- Function Keys
    13. A long bar at the bottom of the keyboard used to insert spaces. -- Space Bar
    14. A calculator type keypad at the right side of the keyboard. -- Numeric Keypad
    15. A unit that reads and/ or writes to CDs or floppies. -- Disk Drive
