INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this manual is to furnish the owner and operator of this Corghi machine
with a set of practical and safe instructions for the use and maintenance of the ERCO 25
S rack. Follow all the instructions carefully and your balancer will assist you in your
work and give lasting and efficient service in keeping with CORGHI traditions.
The following paragraphs define the levels of danger regarding the machine associated
with the warning captions found in this manual:
DANGER
Refers to immediate danger with the risk of serious injury or death.
WARNING
Dangers or unsafe procedures that can cause serious injury or death.
ATTENTION
Dangers or unsafe procedures that can cause minor injuries or damage to property.

Read these instructions carefully before powering up the machine. Conserve this
manual and all illustrative material supplied with the machine in a folder near the tyre
changer where it is readily accessible for consultation by the machine operator.
The technical documentation supplied is considered an integral part of the machine;
in the event of sale all relative documentation must remain with the jack.
The manual is only valid for the machine model and serial number indicated on the
nameplate applied to the machine itself.

WARNING
Adhere to the contents of this manual: Corghi declines all liability in the case of
actions not specifically described and authorised in this manual .

NOTE
Some of the illustrations in this manual have been taken from photographs of
prototypes; the standard production model may differ slightly in certain respects.
These instructions are for the attention of persons with basic mechanical skills. We
have therefore condensed the descriptions of each operation by omitting detailed
instructions regarding, for example, how to loosen or tighten the fixing devices on the
machine. Do not attempt to perform operations unless properly qualified and with
suitable experience. In case of need, please contact our nearest authorised Service
Centre for assistance.

WARNING
It is absolutely forbidden to use protruding parts of the machine as points of
attachment.

INSTALLATION
WARNING
Carry out the described assembly and installation operations with great care.
Failure to follow these recommendations may result in damage to the machine and
put the operator’s safety at risk.

WARNING
Keep the original packaging for future transport.

Place of installation

WARNING
The place where the machine is to be installed must conform to applicable safety at
work regulations.
The machine must be installed on a stable and rigid floor in order to prevent it from
undergoing any structural deformation.
Position the machine so that it is accessible from all four sides. In particular check the
minimum working spaces shown in fig.5.
IMPORTANT : for correct, safe use of the equipment, users must ensure a lighting level
of at least 300 lux in the place of use.

ATTENTION
The machine must not be operated in potentially explosive atmosphere.

Working environment conditions

- Relative humidity: 30-95% without condensation
- Temperature: 0° ÷ +55°

Installation
The rack should be installed on a flat, even surface with a loading capacity of at least
750 kg/sq.m. Remove the M8x16 safety screws (fig.6) next to the Manufacturer’s Serial
plates. Install a compressed air conditioning unit condensation drain, lubricator and
pressure reducer valve upstream from the control box. This unit will filter, dry,
lubricate and reduce the pressure of the compressed air used to operate the rack.
Connect the air hose to the control unit and raise and lower the rack a couple of times
without a load to make sure that it is working correctly.

ERCO 25 S operator’s manual

Testing the safety devices
Whenever the rack is installed, be sure to check the safety valve, which has been
factory-set at 12 bar. To test the valve, supply air at over 12 bar to the line. The gauge
(fig.7) should show a maximum pressure of 12 bar and you should hear air escaping
from the valve if it is working correctly. Check the safety lock on the telescopic arm
(accessory supplied on request) by lifting the rack by 2 cm. The safety device should
work even at this height, preventing the telescopic arm from moving.

Fixing to the floor

The machine should be fixed to the floor using M10 expansion bolts at the points
shown in fig.8.

Moving the rack

Follow these steps if you have to move the rack:
a) lower the rack
b) detach the compressed air hose
c) insert the safety screws (fig.6).
Once the rack has been moved to its new position, follow the installation procedures
described in this chapter.

SPECIFIED CONDITIONS OF USE
The ERCO 25 S rack has been designed exclusively for lifting vehicles that come within
the limits of its technical data.

ATTENTION
Any use of the machine other than the described use is to be considered as improp-
er and unreasonable.

ATTENTION
It is advisable to use only CORGHI original tools for the work.
Fig.13 shows the safety distances and the positions occupied by the operator during
the various working stages.

PRINCIPAL OPERATING PARTS

WARNING
Get to know your machine. Operators who know how to use their machines are the
best guarantee of safety and good performance.
Get to know the function and position of all the controls.
Check carefully that all the controls on the machine work correctly.
To avoid accident or injury, ensure that the equipment is correctly installed and
operated and that all necessary maintenance work is carried out.

Description of controls
Footpedal to activate rising and lowering movement (B fig.7).
Operate the pedal to the right to raise the rack or to the left to lower it (see
illustrations on the control plate fixed to the control box (fig.7).

Regulations for using the rack

Centre the vehicle on the rack so that its weight is well distributed. For safety, position
the ascent ramps so that the distance between their outer edges is less than the width GB
of the vehicle lifted. Normally rubber pads should be placed between the chassis lift
points and the rack. The rubber pads must be positioned with their shortest side
vertical. Use the telescopic arms if necessary. Check the load constantly while using
the rack. Once the vehicle is lifted, check to make sure that the telescopic arm safety
lock has snapped into position. No person under 18 years of age is allowed to operate
the rack. The pneumatic supply may be disconnected by means of the fitting (C fig.7)
in order to prevent the rack from being used by unauthorized personnel.
The rack includes some devices that ensure the safety of the operator.
1.The corners of the rack are fitted with guards to keep the operator’s feet out of the
zone where there may be a danger of them being crushed when the rack is lowered.
2.Sliding straps are fitted to the sides of the rack to prevent feet from being crushed
when it descends.

ERCO 25 S operator’s manual

3.There is a device to prevent the rack from descending in an uncontrolled manner in
the event of breakage of the supply hoses.

WAYS OF STOPPING
To stop the rack while it is either rising or descending, simply release the control
(hands-on control).

TROUBLESHOOTING
If there is a leak anywhere in the compressed air circuit that compromises rack per-
formance, follow these steps:
a)lower the rack completely
b)remove the control unit casing (A fig.8)
c)remove the control unit cover (D fig.7)
d)tighten all the fittings or replace any damaged hoses
e)replace the cover and casing.
If this does not solve the problem, and for all other problems, call Corghi Assistance
Service. Always quote the part and position numbers given on the drawings in the
“Spare parts” booklet provided.

WARNING
The “Spare parts” booklet does not authorize the user to carry out work on the
machine unless expressly specified in the instruction manual, but does enable him
to provide accurate information to the assistance service in order to reduce
downtime.

MAINTENANCE
WARNING
Corghi declines all liability for claims deriving from the use of non-original spares or
accessories.

WARNING
Before carrying out any adjustment or maintenance work, place the rack in its rest
position ( fig.10), disconnect the machine’s pneumatic supply and check that all
moving parts are locked.

WARNING
Do not remove or make changes to any part of this machine (only the assistance
service may do this).

WARNING
Before removing fittings or hoses, check that they do not contain air under pressure.
Air coming out under pressure may cause serious injury.

ATTENTION
Keep the work area clean
Do not clean the machine with compressed air or jets of water.
When cleaning the area take steps to avoid raising dust as far as possible
Thanks to its simple design, this rack does not require any special maintenance: just
lubricate periodically. Since all its parts are heavy duty and not subject to wear, an
occasional inspection is all that is needed to check that the rack components are in
good working order. After installation, the rack should be inspected by an expert at
intervals not greater than one year.

DEMOLITION
If the machine is to be scrapped, remove all electrical, electronic, plastic and metal GB
parts and dispose of them separately in accordance with current provisions as prescri-
bed by law.
