WAYS TO ENCOURAGE ETHICS AMONG EXECUTIVES

It is important to keep in mind that ethical workplace behavior can promote good
employees' performance that contribute to organizational success, just as unethical workplace
behavior can result in negative headlines that lead to organizational failure. Simply put,
corporate partners, which include individuals, associations, and different forms of organizations
enter into a relationship with a business entity in order for that business to defend their interests
in a specific way. As a result, stakeholders and corporate organizations have a shared
expectation that they will behave ethically and in each other's best interests. The good news is
that organizations can take action to build a positive message regarding their image by
implementing policies that helps to ensure ethical conditions and perceptions of corporate
support exist in the workplace. One of the ways to encourage ethics in the workplace especially
among the executives is by enforcing discipline values. It would be a blatant lie to believe that
all workers would simply obey the rules without taking disciplinary action. The safest course of
action is to guarantee that all discipline policies enshrined in the code of ethics are applied to all
offenders, regardless of their status or rank in the organization. If one does not have enough
time to do this, he or she should assign the task to the head of department or supervisor.
However, one must ensure that he or she knows the documentation and basis for any
punishment in the event that an employee wishes to sue him for taking such action. In relating
to this, others will be able to see and understand how strict the company is about upholding the
code of ethics in this manner and hence, they will benefit from there apart from improving the
overall employees’ behavior across the board.
