Cat and mouse

in partnership
One day, a cat showed his love and friendship to a mouse. The mouse
accepted his feelings and agreed to live with the cat and keep a house
together.
In anticipation of the winter, they decided to buy a small pot of fat
that he would use only when needed. Later, to keep the jar safe, the cat
advised to hide it under the altar in the church as it would not be stolen.
Shortly afterwards, the cat wanted to taste it. He then began to lie
to the mouse. The cat then told the
mouse that his cousin had asked him
to become the godfather of his child
and that they were baptising him today.
The cat then asked the mouse if he could
go there while she stayed to keep the
house and do the housework. The
mouse agreed. But the whole story was
a lie, so he went to church and licked the
top of the fat pot. When the cat came
back, the mouse asked him what
name he had given the child. The cat answered "Top-off".
Then history repeated itself. The cat lied to the mouse again and
asked him if he could go to church for the same reason. The mouse agreed
a second time and stayed home. So he went to the church and licked the
fat from above. Back home the mouse asked him the same question. This
time the cat answered "half gone".
Finally, history repeated itself for the last time. This time the cat
licked the rest of the fat in the jar. Back home, the cat answered the
mouse's question again and said that the child's name was "All-Gone".
Winter arrived and the mouse suggested
that the cat go and start the jar of fat. They went
under the church altar and discovered the empty
jar. The mouse realised that the cat had been
deceiving him all along . She explained to the cat
that she had understood everything. When she
pronounced the name of the last "child" : "all
gone", the cat jumped on her and devoured her.

I chose this tale because I didn't know it and because I found the
name attractive. Moreover when I read it I dicovered a story quite
interesting with a not really expected ending.
