Documentary
The north south divide
Rationale:
I have made major progress throughout these past few units, before
I started on this course, I had no knowledge on how to use a camera,
I am at a point where I can confidently say that I can use a camera
and manipulate lighting in my work. As well as being able to use the
physical skills I have learnt in my work I have also developed a more
creative mindset and way of approaching tasks. My aims for this
production are to be able to produce an interesting contextually as
well as visually documentary, I am hoping that I will be able to
develop my editing skills in this project.
Project concept:
My current concept for my project is to investigate the north south
divide and interview members of the public asking them an array of
topical questions, I also want to hold a few interviews that are more
personal with people that I know have strong opinions on the topic. I
will be doing the most of my research first-hand so I can understand
how people feel about the north south divide for myself, I will do
research beforehand on the topic so I am able to ask the appropriate
questions. It is a heavy and time-consuming production meaning that
I will have to schedule it all well and ensure that I have an effective
contingency plan to fall back on. I will send a survey out to people I
know who live in the north as well as to people who live in the south
so I can get a real understanding on the difference in opinions.
Producing a documentary will not only help further my creative skills
it will also help me with understanding how to approach the public
and involve them in my work.
Evaluation:
I will be constantly evaluating my work and the progress I have made
by weekly blogging and looking at the marking criteria to ensure that
I am picking up as many marks as possible within my work,
throughout the production process I will also be receiving feedback
off my teachers and peers. Once I have finished all aspects of my
production, I will then evaluate my work so I can understand what
went wrong and what went right. For me to reach my goals and aims
that I have set I will need to do a lot of research, secondary and
primary, to achieve this.
