I. PURPOSE OF THE MANUAL DOCUMENT
The purpose of this manual document is to provide an overview and course outline for the
demand or need of the technical training on installation, configuration and maintenance of CCTV
camera system.
II. OBJECTIVE
This training course is intended for maintenance, configuration and Installation for ETREs
technical personnel’s including technicians and engineers who will be involved with installing,
configuring, maintaining and managing ETRES CCTV systems. Also through this training
session participants should build a solid working knowledge of surveillance camera. This
training will cover on how to install, design, maintain, configure and manage the CCTV system.
Both theoretical (20%) and practical (80%) means of the training is required. Greater attention is
given for practical / hands-on exercises as it will help the trainees to build experience on the
subjects.
III. LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of this course the trainee would be able to:
 Have clear understanding about over all CCTV system components (cameras, DVRs,
TVs, Vorx and associated fiber cables, power cable, data cables, accessories etc) and
their interconnection/integrations.
 Set-up & configure CCTV system.
 Troubleshoot, repair & maintain CCTV system.
 Set-up CCTV for remote view.
 Install a CCTV system.
IV. BASIC TRAINING COURSE DESCRIPTION
a INTRODUCTION & FOUNDATION OF CCTV:
Generalized introduction to basic CCTV system concepts including analog and IP CCTV
camera system concepts and their applications:
 The fundamentals of analogue and digital CCTV.
 Setting up IP and analogue CCTV systems.
 The importance of an Operational Requirement.
 Surveillance Camera Code of Practice.
 Selecting the best camera and lens combination.
 Lighting and how to measure it.
 Displaying best images for CCTV applications.
 Digital storage and retrieval.
 Transmission methods: Optical Fiber, coax, twisted pair, and free space.
 Using test equipment, meters and tools.
 Health and Safety, Working at Heights and electrical safety.
 Introduction to CCTV installation
 CCTV video signals ( H264, Mpeg 2)
 Cabling and connectors (CAT 5,CAT 6 & Coax)
 Crimping BNC,CAT 5 & keystone connectors)
 Video transmission (analog to digital, megapixel cameras)
 Hands on session on the above covered training areas.
o making video cables with BNC connectors .using crimping tools to make a new
network cable,
o Assembling a CCTV system Troubleshooting using CCTV tester.
b ELECTRICAL AND CCTV INSTALLATION:
 Essential installation skills.
 How to design a cable run.
 How to choose the right type of cable.
 Installing CCTV cameras with RG59 & CAT5.
 Installing CCTV power supplies.
 Set up recording devices.
 Connect up and test system elements.
 Be aware of the issues associated with lighting and scene illumination.
 Adjust the Back Focus of a lens to prevent picture going out of focus from day to night.
 Power back-up requirements.
 Installing back-up, inverters and batteries.
 Practical exercise should be handled on:
o Installing power arrester, video arrester and other camera power supply unit.
o Installing RG-59 network cable starting from camera then to encoder.
o Finally install the HDD to DVR and connect the BNC cables coming from video
encoder device .then confirm if the DVR can see the HDD and it is recording.
c CCTV SYSTEM DESIGNING:
 Preparing System design proposal.
 Introduction to recording resolution, frames per second & lens sizes.
 How to calculate field of view (selecting the correct types of lens size, recording
resolution and configuring frames per second)
 Digital CCTV storage and lightning (DVR storage calculator, Illumination and camera
sensitivity in CCTV).
 Estimation and calculation of power supplies for cameras, based on camera current
specification.
 PTZ camera installation (protocols, baud rate in PTZ.)
 Installing camera housing for bigger projects with power.
 Installing multiple PTZ cameras.
o BRIEF ON CCTV LENSES: concept & theory of CCTV lenses, selecting the
appropriate lens for a particular installation, fixed lens cameras, varifocal lens
cameras, PTZ cameras, dome cameras, box cameras and integrated gun cameras
with detachable lenses, selecting the appropriate lens for a particular application
of camera. Focal length calculations, Camera Placement and Lens selection, Lens
calculator tool overview.
d PRACTICAL WIRING OF CCTV SYSTEM
 Running cables for a CCTV system (CAT5 & coaxial).
 Installing passive and active balun for long CCTV cable run.
 Running shotgun cables and use of cable pulling tips and techniques.
 Installing junction boxes.
e NETWORKING IN CCTV
 Assigning a local area IP address to a DVR and an IP camera.
 Techniques used in assigning a unique local IP address to a DVR.
 Private and public IP address.
 Port forwarding for CCTV systems.
 Network requirements and basic network concepts.
 Network setup topology (connecting the router, DVR & modem).router configuration.
 assigning IP addresses to DVR and other network components
Practical exercise: connect hardware for CCTV installation and configure the router for remote
view.

f INSTALLATION OF CCTV & PROJECT HANDLING:


 Site evaluation and estimating the number of cameras and camera specifications.
 Proper usage of CCTV installation tools guidance.
 Drilling, mounting and positioning of cameras on site.
 Camera angle and degree adjustment.
 Running cables and cable trucking.
g CCTV REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE:
 Diagnosing and rectifying common faults
 Fault finding techniques
 Locating and rectifying cable faults
 Measuring video levels
 Identifying faults in video transmission systems
 Optimisation of camera tracking and focus
 IP diagnosis and repair
 Servicing recording devices
 Maintenance requirements
 Health and safety on site and in workshops

VI. METHOD OF EVALUATION


The evaluation of quotations will be conducted in two stages for each individual Lot:
1. Technical Evaluation = total 100 points (min. passing score is 80%x100 = 80 points)
2. Financial Evaluation
