PILLAR: SOCIO-CULTURAL

Social Entrepreneurship and Impact Investing

• Profit with a purpose, a main tenet of social entrepreneurship and impact investing.
Having gained considerable ground in the last several decades globally, social
SUSTAINABILITY entrepreneurship can be a model for ASEAN to support current economic models
but also providing social support to the poor and most disadvantaged.
• How can ASEAN move forward and not experience the failures of capitalism in the
Western world to provide a sustainable economy for all?

Digital Learning, Health, and Literacy

• How can ASEAN improve community resilience during crisis and change through
FUTURE & digital literacy?
TECHNOLOGY • How can the emergence of new technologies facilitate advancements in health
and education?

Human Rights, Diversity and Equal Opportunities

• While our community has recognised that certain groups within ASEAN do not
EQUITY AND have equal opportunities and steps have been taken to mitigate the situation, how
EQUALITY can we ensure and provide for the rights of minority and disadvantaged groups
throughout ASEAN?
• How can we empower these groups in our society?
08
PILLAR: ECONOMIC COMMUNITY

Climate Change and Economic Prosperity

• What are the implications of climate change on economies in ASEAN, particularly

for our insular Member States? What can ASEAN do to ensure a prosperous
SUSTAINABILITY economic future despite the increasing threat of economic destabilisation as a
result of climate change?

The Future of Informal Economies

• Informal economies are a vital part of many developing nations. How can
FUTURE & we leverage technologies to stimulate economic growth through informal
TECHNOLOGY communities in developing ASEAN Member States who might not otherwise have
opportunities to participate in the wider economy?

Winners and Losers of the COVID-19 Pandemic

• Many ASEAN nations are very vulnerable to global market fluctuations, and the
EQUITY AND COVID-19 pandemic has severely impact our economies.
EQUALITY • How can we effectively fund and protect our economies during such challenging
times?
09
PILLAR: POLITICAL SECURITY

Assessing ASEAN Regionalism

• In the face of US-China rivalry, how can ASEAN and its institutions mitigate the
increasing uncertainty triggered by this disharmony?
SUSTAINABILITY • How should ASEAN and her allies position themselves?

Cyberthreats: Non-Traditional Security Issues in ASEAN*

• While ASEAN has many platforms on cybersecurity, are these coordinated

FUTURE & effectively to protect the regional and national cybersecurity ecosystems?
TECHNOLOGY • Are our current investments enough?

People, Power, and Politics

• Society is not only governed by its politicians, but also its people. How can non-
EQUITY AND state actors such as youths and civil society engage in political discourse? What
EQUALITY happens when leaders repress political dissention? How can we ensure that
everyone’s voices are heard?
