Letter to Families

What is LAMP?

How can I use it at

home?

DEAR FAMILIES,
We know you love your children more than the world itself! We also
know you want the best possible future for them! Our team here at
HSE strives to teach your children communication skills and give
families the resources necessary to make this dream possible. Our
main focus in this program is developing communication skills and
school readiness. One of the tools we, and many other educational
professionals, have discovered to be most effective in encouraging
and expanding communication among learners is LAMP: Words for
Life. This can be as low-tech as a printed board like the one pictured
above, or as high-tech as a device that includes the verbal output of
words for seemingly endless word choices. LAMP can seem
overwhelming to families who have never encountered it before.
However, practice can be made very simple with a few activities at
home that you are probably already doing! We are going to do Every child has
everything we can at school to help your child develop their the ability to
communication skills, but we will only be able to generalize these learn, grow, and
skills across many settings if we partner with you at home! We would communicate!

by having them say, "eat cookie" or
