VALUE EDUCATION

CHAPTER 1

HAPPY AS I AM
LET US THINK :

She was singing. Looking

at the beautiful trees
and the flowers swaying I don’t like this toy…its become
in the air. She could see old…I am fed up with my old
her mother cooking her toys..I want new toys..
favourite dish…Oh how
happy I am
LEARNING OBJECTIVE

• TO UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONTENTMENT AND

DISCONTENTMENT.
• TO LEARN THE VALUE OF BEING THANKFUL.
WAYNE WAS ALWAYS
COMPLAINING. HE HAD A BIG
FAMILY. HE HAD A WIFE AND
SIX GROWING CHILDREN.
THEY ONLY HAD ONE ROOM
TO LIVE IN

There is so little space in

this house !
I am always tired as
there is no corner
where I can rest

Wayne decided to talk to his

friend about this. He thought
his wise friend would know
what to do
WAYNE GOES TO MEET HIS FRIEND

I LIVE IN ONE ROOM HOUSE . WE

ALL SLEEP , LIVE, PLAY , STUDY
AND WORK THERE. WE OFTEN
TRED ON EACH OTHERS TOES
AND THAT MAKES US FIGHT

YES , I HAVE A
COW, A CALF, A
DO YOU HAVE DONKEY AND
ANY ANIMALS ? SOME CHICKENS.
THEY LIVE IN A
SHED OUTSIDE.
WAYNE WAS SURPRISED. THIS WAS
NOT WHAT HE EXPECTED TO HEAR
FROM HIS FRIEND . BUT THEN HE DID
WHAT HE WAS TOLD. HIS ONE ROOM
HOUSE BECAME MORE CROWDED
AND FULL OF NOISE

TAKE THE ANIMALS

INSIDE YOUR
HOSUE . LET THE
ANIMALS LIVE
TOGETHER WITH
YOU FOR A WEEK
Its terrible. The animals are all
over the place and we are
squeezed to the corner. And the
smell ! What can we do ?

Take the chickens out

The chickens are gone but
the hay ! The animals are
stamping the hay into
everyone's eyes and hair

Hmmmm…..they take the

cow and the calf out
The donkey has
chewed up my
children's books

Send the donkey

out too….
SO WAYNE TOOK THE DONKEY
OUTSIDE. ALL THE ANIMALS WERE
BACK IN THE SHED NOW

SOMETIME LATER, WAYNE MET HIS

FRIEND
Wonderful…we are very
happy. The animals are back
in the house and now the
house is big enough for us
to be comfortable.

HOW ARE YOU

WAYNE? HOW IS
THE FAMILY?
WHAT DID WE LEARN :

• There are two important words in this story :

• Contentment – to be happy with what you have
• Discontentment- be unhappy with what you have.
• We must always be thankful for all the good things we have in our life. Thank you parents,
your friends who always try to bring a smile on your face.
• Being discontented is a habit. Such people are never happy and they never live happily.
• When we are contended we are happy and we are always ready to help others.
WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO BE ?
LETS HAVE FUN

THIS IS A CONTENTMENT TREE. ON EACH LEAF

WRITE WHAT YOU ARE THANKFUL AND HAPPY
FOR.
