After-School Program:

Day of Program Timeline:

2pm Waylon, Willie, Hank, and Tyler will meet Fred at RU WEST to pick up
equipment
2:30pm Waylon, Willie, Hank, and Tyler meet in Waldron Circle for Car
Pooling
2:45pm Waylon, Willie, Hank, and Tyler arrive at Radford City Recreation
Department
2:45-3pm Waylon, Willie, Hank, and Tyler prepare for After School Program
3-4:50pm Waylon, Willie, Hank, and Tyler implement After School Program
4:50pm Waylon, Willie, Hank, and Tyler clean up

3pm-3-20pm kids check in and start playing Pateca

3:52-4pm F.O.F. #7 “Odd or Even”
4pm-4:15pm students will get to choose from small bags of pretzels,
goldfish, fruit snacks and apple sauce as well as the small 8oz. water bottles.
4:15 students will make jewelry out of pipe cleaners and beads
4:15-4:23pm F.O.F. #9 “It’s a corker”
4:23-4:31pm F.O.F. #15 “choo choo”
4:31-4:39pm F.O.F. #25 “Magic color”
4:39-4:45pm F.O.F. #160 “Pinguard”
4:45pm-4:50ish kids will circle up in middle of gym and will each be asked
what their favorite activity was then high five each person to the right and left of
them.
Designated Roles:
Waylon: Will lead F.O.F. games #1, 7, 160
Willie: Will lead F.O.F. games #3, 9
Hank: Will lead F.O.F. games #8, 15
Tyler: Will lead F.O.F. games #2, 25

GREETERS/RECRUITERS: Waylon, Willie, Hank, and Tyler


CHECK IN: Tyler will check kids in on clipboard and Waylon will make the name
tags for them.
SNACK TIME: Waylon, Willie, Hank, and Tyler will set up snack “station” prior to
kids showing up at 3pm as it will take roughly 10 minutes to set up (don’t want to
waste 10 minutes of their snack time setting up). They will all set it up prior to 3pm
and lay out all snacks on a portable picnic table. At snack time the leaders will make
sure all the kids line up in a single file line at the snack table and leaders will instruct
and watch to make sure each kid takes one of each snack/water. (will plan on
bringing extra in case some kids are hungrier than others and want more).
RULES/INTRODUCTION: Willie and Hank. (Hank will have his guitar and start
playing one of his country songs to get kids attention). Rules for each game will be
explained prior to the start of each game.
PLAY LEADERS: Waylon, Willie, Hank, and Tyler

After School Program Information:


 Facility: Indoor Gymnasium
o 2 full basketball courts separated by partition
 Age: 4th-7th grade (all ages at once)
 How Many: 25-30 kids (may have more/less)
 Kids walk up from school-wide range of social status
Program Expectations:
 Leaders must:
o Must wear close toed shoes (or cowboy boots for Waylon and willie
and hank)
o Wear a cowboy hat and a black shirt that says “leader” on the back
o Arrive 10-15 minutes early and start on time
o Lead at least one activity
 Everyone must wear a nametag (leaders & players)
 Roles:
-Check In Kids- Tyler and Waylon
-Recruiters- Waylon, Willie, Hank, and Tyler
-Opening game (while kids are still arriving)- Willie and Hank
-Rules- explained prior to each game by each leader
-Games- Who is leading and File ‘O Fun (SEE “DESIGNATED ROLES” FOR
WHO IS LEADING WHICH GAME)
Other Information:

Equipment List:
Walmart: 8 yellow cards, 4 blue cards, 3 red cards, 2 black cards, 1 white card,
volleyball, nerf ball, beachball, milk carton(drink first, need it empty), Indian club,
soda bottle, toothpicks, envelopes, score cards, paper bags(10), index cards. All the
snacks.
Craft Store: pipe cleaners (pack of 100 just so kids have more than enough if they
want to make more than one bracelet or whatever they decide to make), beads,
pencils(35), picture puzzle sheet.
Bring from home: bottles with corks, plastic bottle, tables and chairs, random items
for the paper bag game.

Snack Time: Kids must have a name tag to receive snack. Wash hands first, snack
provided by rec. center(small bags of pretzels, goldfish, fruit snacks, cups of apple
sauce, and 8oz. water bottles), around 4pm (or when kids get hungry), lasts 15 min.,
clean up afterwards. Facilitators/leaders will make sure kids line up in single file
line and take one snack from each pile, if wanted, and can go and eat and come back
for more if wanted after everyone else has already gotten some.
