    Reason The high requirements on the turbocharger during operation or damage


    caused by foreign objects may necessitate exchanging individual
    components of the cartridge. In order to ensure continued operational safety,
    the rotor assembly must be balanced when installing a new compressor
    wheel or turbine rotor.

    Compliance Mandatory

    Description If a new compressor wheel (520.005) or a new turbine rotor (520.001) is


    installed during maintenance work or a major overhaul, it is essential to
    balance the assembled rotor assembly (520.000) before installing it in the
    cartridge.

    Assembly During assembly, it must be ensured that the balancing marks of the turbine
    shaft, thrust ring, counter-thrust ring and retaining ring coincide radially.

    Incorrect balancing may cause the maximum permissible imbalance to be


    exceeded.
    The rotor assembly (520.000) can only be balanced on special balancing
    machines. Our authorized service centers are available for this.
    The address of the nearest service center can be obtained from our Technical
    Service department.

    Recommendation If it is not possible to balance the rotor assembly, MAN Diesel recommends
    installing a new cartridge.
