The Master focuses on the crossover between

ABOUT art and technology with great emphasis on the

creation of autonomous agents, robotic
devices, and mechanisms that include robotics.
Both in our country and in the Latin American
academic field, the Universidad Nacional de
Tres de Febrero (UNTREF) has been a pioneer
in the incorporation of the art/technology
crossover into its curricula, and in the
conception of artistic practices as the drive of
research processes. Thus, technological
languages have been thoroughly addressed at
UNTREF since 1999 with the creation of the
Degree in Electronic Arts and the Master’s
Degree in Technology and Aesthetics of
Electronic Arts. The challenging objective of
this art and technology space is to foster
visions geared towards the creation of
technological languages strongly based on
research. It aims to be a transdisciplinary space
for reflection, art and knowledge production,
experimentation, and critical analysis of the
use of these technologies, contemporary
practices, and the dialogues that such practices
establish with the social and cultural
environment
Bioart, generativity, interactivity, public art,
virtual platforms, robotics, sensory
technologies, and activism are some of the
fields addressed by the Master’s Degree in
Technology and Aesthetics of Electronic Arts.
The Master’s Degree includes the participation
in and development of activities at the
university’s various exhibition spaces.
Through shows, exhibitions, social practice
activities, and international exchange
agreements, the Master’s Degree in
Technology and Aesthetics of Electronic Arts
expands its networks and places itself within a
broader social and cultural scene, both on a
national and global level. With students from
all over Latin America, the Master’s Degree has
become a reference in the field of Latin
American Electronic Arts through the active
role played by its graduates in the artistic
arena.
RESEARCH
The master's degree has been working around
different lines of research. Among them:
- Development of mediation devices from
Artificial Intelligence technologies.
- Reflection on contexts of technological co-
creation with natural environments.
- Development of sensitive mapping
environments.
- Mestizo robotics.
CURRENT RESEARCH
PROJECTS
Biointeractivity and territory: laboratories for
the study of the environment through art,
science, and technology applied to video
games

In collaboration with the École Européenne

Supérieure de l'Image Poitiers (France)

Development of strategies of exploration,

discussion, and creation through the
transversal exchange between art, science, and
technology around the collaboration with the
sustainable environment and its exercise in the
preservation of biodiversity and environment.
Creation of video games and artistic practices
that promote a dialogue between biological
phenomena and cultural and environmental
expressions of each region.
Cultural Mediation and Robotics for
Communication in Cultural and Exhibition
Spaces

In collaboration with the University of La Rochelle

(France)

Development of bi- and multi-directional robotic

portable devices for interaction in exhibition
spaces
Borders, limits and edges in the artistic, visual
and technological production

In collaboration with the École de Beaux Arts

Nantes (France)

Research around urban edges, implementing

drifts and developing tracking specific devices.
Kawitu, Eco-bed & interface

With the financial support of the Agence

Universitaire de la Francophonie

Due to the advance of the coronavirus

pandemic, we have been working on projects
that articulate with the public health
community.
Kawitu is a hard cardboard bed, simple to
assemble and very strong, for temporary
modular hospitals. It is ecological and is made
up of a system of corrugated cardboard panels.
Unlike other models, Kawitu (bed in Mapuche
and Quechua) arises from an original design
model that incorporates its own lighting
developed with "clean" technologies - from a
development of dynamical lighting -, combining
biomaterials developed by us.
But also, it is an interface: a communication
surface that opens and shapes meeting spaces.
Through a printed QR code, patients, by
scanning it, will have access to daily
programming implemented by the master's
community.
Mobile Bio-lab

With the financial support of the Parc Naturel de

la Gironde (France)

The Mobile Bio-Lab was born in 2018 as an

initiative of the Colectiva Ecoestéticas to build a
platform of intersection between electronic arts,
science and technology for the study of the
environment and the biodiversity of local aquatic
ecosystems. We conceive this platform as an
open space for the hybridization of practices
between different disciplines, living organisms,
materialities and agencies from the open
knowledge, the development of bio-interactive
and bio-artistic tools and the approach to the
biological phenomenon from its historical,
political and ecological context.

This territorial exploration room has become a

space for dialogue and joint work between
artists, scientists, researchers, teachers and
students from different universities. A space for
collaboration and collective and multi-species co-
creation.

It
SOCIAL PRACTICE
Education is (or should be) dynamic and moving,
and for that, the master always tries to generate
the following strategies:
- To explore new ways of thinking and strategies
of action that operate on knowledge in a
transversal way.
- To approach knowledge from its production
context.
- To address knowledge as a multidimensional
experience for “situated practices” in a
collaborative environment.
- To build an educational environment for
dialogue, reflection, and exchange of ideas,
dismantling assumptions of race, gender,
cultures and traditions in relation to epistemic
frameworks and tools
Mal Practice platform

With the support of the National Ministry of

Education

Mal Practice builds a space of joint work

between teachers and students of the
secondary schools and students of the master's
program. The project aims at creating an artistic
and pedagogical intervention in the classroom
to generate a space of participation and
reflection. It has the purpose of encouraging
and articulating a process of knowledge
construction so that the children learn in a
different way from the orthodox way of working
at school.
The initiative seeks to reverse the traditional
equation of verticality that occurs in the
classroom and make students participate in the
process of knowledge production. The
relationship is not one of knowledge
transmission but of knowledge construction,
and it occurs in an interdisciplinary way.
31 Colores (31 Colors)
Design and coordination of community-based project in
collaboration with UNTREF and migrant weavers from Villa 31
2018 / present

31 Colors aims to generate a horizontal exchange of knowledge and

skills of media and crafts such as weaving, embroidery and sewing,
integrating our ancestral Latin American past with sound,
electronics, photography, visual arts and digital technology. The
participants are teachers, students, and migrant weavers (from
Bolivia, Peru and Paraguay) from the "Villa 31" -one of the largest
slums in Buenos Aires. Throughout the meetings, both in the slum
and at the university, each of the participants are both master and
apprentice, which encouraged curiosity and appreciation of the
resources that each brought with them. The articulation of this
knowledge also allowed the expansion of techniques and the sense
of the usual tasks of each one of them. Little by little, an intimate
bond was created that derived in the creation of the collective e-
textile works that gather the memory of the condition of migrants.
