What is the Fibroblast skin treatment?
The Fibroblast skin treatment is a superficial “surgery” that delivers equivalent results
of more evasive surgeries for a perfect skin tightening rejuvenation. No scalpels or
any other surgical equipment is required. The Fibroblast skin treatment is the perfect
answer for client beauty needs. There are no risks involved, such as stitches,
anesthesia, bruises, or extended downtime. The results can be comparable to the
much more expensive surgeries to treat unwanted signs of aging. Keep in mind it is
always important to establish realistic goals when servicing our clients. This way you
and your client are satisfied with the results and expectations. Results will not be as
dramatic as surgery, therefore the treatment should be presented as an effective
method for with a limited capacity.
•Pacemakers • Keloids
•Epilepsy • Retinal

Are the results visible immediately after the
treatment?
The results are visible immediately after the treatment, but we have to inform the client
that the maximum results will be visible after 3–4 weeks when the skin enters the third
phase of the healing – collagen and connective tissue growth. So, results are visible
immediately, but the end results follow after 3–4 weeks after the treatment.
The results of the Fibroblast treatment are permanent and may be visible for years. But
we should acknowledge that the aging process is continuous and thus the skin ages
every day after the procedure and this cannot be stopped. The results of this method
are permanent, but when we talk about mimic facial lines (worry lines) these may recur
quickly because muscles are stronger than the skin and consequently the lines recur.
Average results last from 2-4 years
PLASMA SKIN TIGHTENING PRE/POST CARE
Plasma Skin Tightening treatment is not suitable for everyone. There are
risks associated with the treatment and it is of the utmost importance to
know if you are a candidate for this advanced procedure.
If you are considering Plasma Skin Tightening, you should be in good health at the
time of the appointment, with no pre-existing health conditions. Ideal candidates for
this cosmetic procedure are those with lax, crepe-like skin around the eyes, neck,
tummy, mouth, or targeted area for the treatment.
• If you are displaying signs of cold or flu the treatment should be rescheduled.
• Contact lenses must be removed when performing treatment on the upper
eyelids.
• Skin should not be inflamed in the area we are treating prior to procedure.
• If you have a sunburn/suntan treatment should be postponed for up to 8 weeks
or until tan/burn signs disappear.
• Discontinue use of any AHA and/or Retinol skincare products for 4 weeks prior
to treatment.
• Eyelash extensions receiving upper or lower eyelid treatment MUST have
lashes removed prior to treatment and reapplied after 8 weeks.
• Discontinue use of any cleaners, creams, and serums containing acids such as
salicylic, glycolic, and lactic 4 weeks prior to having any facial Plasma Skin
Tightening procedures performed.
PLASMA SKIN TIGHTENING POST-CARE
Keep the area clean to avoid infections until the scabs have formed and exfoliated on
their own. Follow the aftercare instructions exactly as written to ensure the
best possible healed outcome.
AFTERCARE DO’S:
• Ice the treated area (use a clean tea towel to cover the ice pack) alternating 10
minutes on and 10 minutes off, for up to one hour for the first 2 days.
• Keep the treated area clean using a mild unscented glycerin or Dove unscented
soap twice a day (morning and night) Gently splash the area with cool water and
very gently clean with soap and rinse very thoroughly. Use very mild gentle pressure
to clean skin.
• Gently apply your aftercare product (using only clean hands) to the treated area as
needed to relieve pain/itching each day until your scabs fall off on their own.
• IMPORTANT!!! Allow the scabs to come off on their own. This will ensure the
best possible healed result and avoid scarring and infection.
• Be patient with the process and allow yourself time to rest and heal.
• Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds – Once the scabbing/peeling process is
complete, always apply a broad spectrum sunblock to the treated area for a
minimum of 3 months after your last treatment. The skin is still healing and can
easily become damaged by the UV rays causing hyperpigmentation.
AFTERCARE DON’TS:
• Do not pick the scabs. Let them fall off by themselves or you risk scarring
• Do not apply any make-up (even mineral) for the first 4 days or until the
scabbing or peeling is complete (about 7-10 days).
• Do not apply any plasters (liquid bandaid) on the treated areas as doing so can
delay the natural healing process.
• Do not work out, swim, get in a hot tub or steam bath (avoid sweating and
soaking scabs).
SWELLING
Swelling is to be expected after this type of treatment. This is due to the fact that
the area will be recovering from a deliberate controlled wound, therefore the
natural side effect is swelling. There are steps you can take to minimize the
swelling but it cannot be avoided. You can’t avoid or cure the swelling – it is a
response to the trauma. The swelling will subside in a matter of days.
STAGES OF HEALING
Day 1: Try to lay propped up with pillows. Do not lay completely horizontal.
Weeping from the treated area is normal as well as some pain and discomfort.
The swelling will likely be worse in the mornings and lessen towards the evening.
You may find it difficult to open your eyes in the morning following the treatment
however, it will subside throughout the day. It will feel like a bad sunburn.
Day 2: The swelling typically peaks by day 2. Do not be surprised if the swelling
is worse on the 2nd day. Remember: swelling is worse in the mornings and
lessens throughout the day. Swelling can also spread to the under eye area
DON’T PANIC this is perfectly normal. The upper and lower eye are all connected
therefore the fluids from the upper eye will drain to the lower eye area. This too
shall pass. Discomfort and pain are still present and to be expected on the
second day.
Day 3: You will notice an improvement in the swelling and the “dots” will start to
crust/scab over. The scabs must not be picked, allow them to fall off on their own.
Your level of discomfort will have subsided dramatically. Minimal pain expected
for the 3rd day. For those who experienced the under eye swelling, this will still
be present.
Day 4: Some mild residual swelling may still be present on the upper eyelids. No
more pain or discomfort should be felt.
Day 5: Swelling should be complete and scabs may still be present. The under
eye swelling should be almost completely resolved by this point if not gone.
When can you resume their regular AHA skin cleansing this would include
cleaners, creams and serums containing acids such as salicylic, glycolic,
lactic, etc.) routine? It is safe for them to reintroduce these types of products at
the 8 week post treatment mark.
Brief description of
healing process.
Before carrying out the treatment, you are required to complete and sign this
consultation record, thus giving your absolute consent to treatment. Additionally, you
will need to disclose your full medical history, which will determine whether you are a
suitable candidate for the proposed treatment. If the specialist does not think you are
suitable for the treatment, this will not be carried out.
Your specialist will discuss the procedure in full, including what it will involve, discuss
the benefits, explain any risks, the healing process and advise upon any further
treatment if/ where necessary. You will then be provided with written aftercare
information for you to keep and refer to during the subsequent healing process.
It is important you clearly mark any areas of this form you wish to have clarified or
discuss further. It is ultimately YOUR responsibility to ensure you understand in full the
procedure and the expected outcomes before treatment commences.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND SIGN WHERE INDICATED, ONLY when you are
happy to proceed. Ensure all points below have been discussed with your
specialist. You are signing to state that you understand and accept these terms.
• Fibroblast is an art process – not an exact science – and cannot guarantee an exact
shrinkage result due to skin elasticity and individual healing process.
• You may be required to return for additional treatments before your overall
procedure is deemed complete. The payment for any additional work, if applicable,
will be agreed prior to the treatment commencing. Depending upon area of
treatment, additional treatments, cannot be performed until after 4-8 weeks from
date of initial treatment. This is in order to allow the initially treated area to heal fully.
• Your specialist will use a treatment plan to record the areas you have chosen, an
aesthetic used, probe used as well as pre and post treatment photographs. This
information will be held securely in your consultation record.
• The skin type of every client is different and the healing process may lead to some
discoloration of the skin. Microdermabrasion or skin rejuvenation may be advised,
after the healing process is complete.
• After each treatment some swelling or redness may occur. In some cases, there may
be extreme swelling. Your specialist will give you appropriate advice to help reduce
• This risk. Throughout the treatment you may experience some discomfort, but your
• Specialist will reassure you throughout and endeavor to make you feel comfortable.
• Since the treatment includes small burns to the skin, you may experience the smell
of charring. This is perfectly normal.
• You must adhere to the specialist’s aftercare advice given to you following your
treatment. This is very important and will reduce the risk of post procedural infection
upon leaving the clinic. You must let the treated area heal properly. Avoid picking,
plucking or knocking as this will hinder the healing process and could make the
treatment appear uneven thus requiring further work.

While performing any treatment on clients we want to ensure the client has a
healthy, safe procedure and environment. In the industry of servicing we come in
contact with different clients than can have possible contagious disease and
germs. The following guidelines should be followed within the spa setting and
while using your new Dion Fibroblast Plasma pen:
• Prep the setting that you will be doing the procedure; Use a government
approved disinfectant to clean your station
• Do the same disinfectant procedure on your facial bed before and after every
client
• Always make sure your tools and implements are cleaned and sanitized
appropriately
• Make sure the equipment has disposable coverings over your instrument; when
you are done with each service dispose of the disposable bags and wipe your
instrument down with an appropriate disinfectant
• Make sure before beginning any procedure the hands are properly washed with
soap
• Repeat these guidelines before and after every client to keep a safe and
effective treatment for all of your clients
ANATOMY OF THE SKIN LAYERS
The integumentary system is the study of the skin and its layers. Skin
physiology is the study of the skin’s functions. When working with the skin it is
important to have a basic understanding of its makeup. Keratin is a major
protein that makes up the skin and it’s layers. There are 3 main layers of skin to
consider:
Stratum corneum - The top toughest layer of skin, composed of dead skin cells
made of keratin called keratinocytes that protects lower layers of the skin
Stratum lucidum - A transparent layer that lies in between the corneum and
granulosum it forms friction in the palms of your hands and feet. Also makes up
your fingerprints.
Stratum granulosum – The layer in which the cells start to look like granules and
form keratin
Stratum spinosum - Also known as the spiny layer, this is where intercellular
connections which is the “glue” to the skin is formed
Stratum germinativum - Also known as the basal layer. Our melanin production
starts in this layer also. Many of our touch receptor cells called Merkel cells are
housed here.
How does this play out when performing the
fibroblast plasma treatment?
The electrical arc that is sent out from the probe cauterizes the skin without
bleeding by creating a controlled trauma to the epidermis which is going to
signal the fibroblast cells that are housed in the dermis. Fibroblast cells are
located in the dermis which is the second layer of skin. Fibroblast cells
manufacture and maintain our collagen production. Collagen renews and tightens
the skin to give a more youthful appearance. Therefore, this is where the term
“fibroblast” comes into play.
As you can see in the picture above it shows the difference of the skins
structure as we age. The fibroblast cells are more active and have an easier
time reaching the skins epidermis or outer skin layers. The fibroblast plasma
treatment triggers a forced “superficial trauma” to the skin to stimulant this
cycle to repair, tighten, and renew the skins surface. Revealing a smoother,
tighter, rejuvenated, and younger appearance to wrinkles, sagging loose
skin, and improves the appearance of stretch marks located on areas of the
body including: eyes, forehead, nasolabial folds, jowls, the neck area, under
the chin, cheeks, lips, and the tummy area.
So as you can see the diagram above shows a overview of what occurs when
the skin is injured or has controlled trauma. A slight clot or scab will form a day
after the treatment has taken place. As you can see in the diagram the smaller
purple cells (fibroblast cells) on the diagram in no.1 and no.2 start to come up
from the dermal layer and begin to flood the sight where the trauma has taken
place.
They remain their to release the collagen to form new tissue (diagram no.3)
and bring that “healed” new connective tissue up to the epidermal level as you
can see in diagram picture no.4.
When you look at the previous diagram you can see how younger skin has more
fibroblast cells in its dermal tissue ready to send collagen more readily to the
epidermal skin surface versus the older skin diagram.
The process of the fibroblast plasma treatment induces this cycle to tighten
loose, crepitus, and wrinkled skin.
