Today we’re covering an issue
that is significantly underreported, yet so relevant to our health.
And our guest, Lloyd Burrell, has been on a mission
to raise awareness and offer solutions
to the dangers of electromagnetic fields from cellphones and other devices.
He’s the founder of the popular website, ElectricSense.com,
and the creator of the EMF Health Summit,
the Healing with Vibration Summit,
and author of The EMF Practical Guide,
which is an amazing resource I highly recommend.
He’s a regular speaker at international events, podcasts, radio shows,
and hosts his own bi-monthly EMF Health podcast.
Lloyd, I really appreciate all the work you're doing.
It’s great to talk to you.
It’s a great pleasure to be here, Gabe.
Thanks so much for the invitation.
Pleasure to talk about this, always.
Well, it’s an incredibly important issue as you know.
And you have your own journey with it.
And your own healing story from it.
I would love to hear a bit about how you understood
that the pain and symptoms that you were dealing with
were connected to EMFs.
Yeah. So, the beginning of this story,
this episode in my life is that one day I answered my cellphone.
This is back in 2002. And I had a reaction.
And this reaction, just kind of bizarre initially,
kind of altered spatial awareness, kind of woozy head,
not quite sure what was going on.
And in a very short space of time,
very short number of phone calls actually,
literally pretty much within the same day or over a couple of days,
it went from being kind of unpleasant to just totally unbearable.
And people said to me, well, how did you know it was your cellphone?
It was really simple, because cellphone next to my ear, intense pain.
Cellphone away, no pain.
And that’s how it started.
And I’ve told this story many times and I say,
the punch line is, it got so bad,
I actually went to see my doctor.
And my doctor, who’s a friend,
he couldn’t find anything wrong with me.
And he sent me to see a number of other doctors, specialists.
And I had just a battery of tests done over many, many months.
And they could find nothing wrong with me.
I had some slight blood pressure issues.
And this just got worse, and worse, and worse over time.
And I was really in a bad way
because not only was I impacted by my cellphone,
so I literally couldn’t use my cellphone anymore.
So, I started to use my computer.
But then I was reacting to my computer.
I was reacting to the TV, the radio in the car,
and even my corded landline.
So, it was like, I wasn’t fit for this century.
It was like, where do I go?
Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.
And, this really got worse, and worse, and worse.
For over two years, I was in this situation.
I was kind of telling myself, “You're okay, Lloyd.
There's nothing wrong with you.”
But deep down I knew there was something,
not necessarily wrong with me.
But there was something not right.
And fortunately, one day I came across
an article in The Daily Telegraph,
which is quite a highbrow newspaper
which no longer exists in printed form.
And I was reading about this guy,
CEO of a major food group in the UK.
And it was kind of like my story.
The guy, he couldn’t use a cellphone.
He was running around in a clapped out old car.
His secretary was taking all these,
he’s dictating everything, and taking all his messages and everything.
And being the intermediary with the technology.
He was having to switch the electricity off,
literally, to get to sleep at night.
And they gave a name to this, a label to this,
and that was electrical hypersensitivity.
And that’s literally the first time I heard about that.
And that was kind of a bit of a eureka moment
because I realized I wasn’t the only person on the planet who got this.
Because I literally thought I was going mad.
I literally thought there is something.
I thought there was something wrong with me.
And I subsequently discovered
that actually there's not really anything wrong with me.
It’s actually a lot of things right with me.
It’s just I can feel this stuff.
And other people can feel it.
But it’s actually impacting everybody.
And that’s what I subsequently discovered.
And that’s a really important point there,
is that it’s impacting everybody, even if you can’t feel it.
And the happy ending is that I’m here today to tell the story.
And that I am still very sensitive to EMFs.
In fact, possibly more sensitive.
I’m more sensitive than ever to energy certainly,
because EMF is just an energy.
But I don’t get these debilitating symptoms
which I initially experienced.
So, I’m able to live “normally”.
And that’s what’s so interesting
is that you were able to heal in a way that built some resilience
so that you didn’t have those symptoms,
even though you know you're sensitive.
And then also, would you say
that they were a combination of different lifestyle changes
in addition to all of the things
that you do now to sort of adapt the technology?
Yeah, completely. So, it was a lot of changes.
And this took nearly 10 years, to figure all this out.
And it was really quite a puzzle.
The key bit of the puzzle was obviously the EMFs and learning about that.
And there was no kind of go-to resource at the time at all.
It was just information I picked up about this.
Because honestly, I was kind of in fear of this thing, EMF.
What the heck is EMF?
I dropped physics like O-level, which is like,
I don’t know what the equivalent is in American, but like in 16.
So, I did physics.
But like EMFs in health, it’s pretty scary
when it’s impacting you every day.
And making you just feel awful.
And all these symptoms, because it wasn’t just the immediate symptoms,
it was all these other symptoms which I was experiencing:
massive fatigue, aches and pains
all over my body, gut issues, weight gain, weight loss.
My health was just in a mess.
I was in a mess, frankly.
So yeah, it was dealing with EMFs, which I learnt.
Because it seems at the time there was no way
to deal with EMFs in a health sense.
And combining that with other holistic health strategies
which I now call all that, holistic approach to EMF protection.
And it’s really an energetic approach to health.
And that is essentially what I share.
And it’s certainly what I’ve just written an e-book resource
on this actual very subject, literally what I do every day
to keep everything tickety-boo.
Some of the early tests that you had, were there MRIs or anything?
You said that they couldn’t find anything.
Was that because the tests that you were doing
just weren't the kind that needed to be done,
or the doctors weren't interpreting the information right?
It’s really difficult to say.
I really just was following the advice
of my local general practitioner, local doctor.
And he sent me to just a bunch of different places,
even like neurologists, ear-nose-throat specialists.
There was the MRI.
Frankly, MRI was the worst thing to do for somebody like me,
submitting myself to those kind of magnetic resonances.
So, this was back in 2002-2004, all that was going on.
And there wasn’t the understanding that there is today.
But sadly, even today, this is happening to people today, unfortunately.
And they're going to see their doctors.
And the doctors are completely clueless about what's going on.
And the true nature of health,
which is actually electromagnetic, it’s not.
There are chemical reactions going on
but what's going on above that is actually
it’s an electrical informational world that we live in.
And we are electrical beings.
So how the heck can you address that
if you’ve not been trained in that
and if really all your knowledge
is about surgery and pharmaceutical drugs?
What is really very, very clear as soon as you start researching this,
and I don’t know if this has become apparent to you,
but there is just so much research out there.
And it is not going back 10-20 years.
This is going back a long time.
This is going back, the very first studies
on the effects of EMFs on health, going back to the 1700s and 1800s.
So, we’re talking a long, long time.
And d’Arsonval and Nikola Tesla,
they were doing studies together.
So, not the kind of studies we’re doing today obviously.
But they already found that EMFs impacted health, in certain way,
respiration, perspiration, and body weight.
And that was like in the late 1800s.
And then, another kind of leap forward
was when radar was introduced.
And there was quite a bit of research done on that.
So, that was in the 1930s.
More recently, for people that are looking
for some really peer reviewed research to get their teeth into,
is the BioInitiative report, 2007 study,
which was put together by 14 scientists,
researchers, public policy makers,
reviewing over 2000 peer reviewed studies to that date.
And they came out with the conclusion
that very clearly that the existing guidelines
didn’t protect populations from these exposures.
And just to give you an idea, in 2012,
the document was updated, and they looked at another 1800 studies,
just in the intervening period, between 2007 and 2012.
And again, if people want to go online, so there is my website.
My objective has always been to share solutions,
and to make the information user friendly.
But if you're just looking for the studies, go to EMFportal.org.
And there’s over 30,000 studies
on the effects of EMFs on health, on that website.
And it’s like some days there's 20, 30 studies a day.
When I was researching my book,
I was astonished myself at just how many studies there are on this.
And what is important to understand is, yeah,
you do need to look at the funding, who’s funding the studies.
Because, unfortunately, that is a major determinant of, it appears,
of what they’re actually going to find, what the result’s going to be.
And there is this very clear study bias
which Dr. Henry Lai actually analyzed this.
And he compared the studies
which are independently funded, with the industry studies.
And clearly the independent studies
were finding harmful effects over two thirds,
whereas the industry studies,
over 70% were saying there were no harmful effects.
So, just total incompatibility in those results.
Well, with so many studies that are convincing
and that are outside of industry, why do you think other,
more mainstream journalists aren’t picking this up and reporting on it?
I think the problem with the mainstream is,
there is so much censorship going on now.
My website is censored since last year.
And a lot of these big media corporations,
they are working with or owned
by telecom companies, pharmaceutical companies.
It all comes back to the same mother company.
And even where that’s not the case,
then they are so reliant on advertising
because of the internet now, particularly.
Anything in print form, it’s very difficult for them to make ends meet.
And so, that really makes them extremely vulnerable to outside pressures.
And so, I think it’s really difficult to get true information,
particularly the way things are going, not just on EMFs,
but accurate information on health
is really very difficult to get now online.
So, as someone, let’s say maybe they’ve got some mysterious symptoms.
Headaches like you had, or they notice heat
from their devices affecting them, or symptoms of all kinds
seem to be able to appear from these exposures.
Of course, with this series it’s been
about dealing with autoimmune diseases
and other chronic illnesses such as Lyme.
What have you found that how EMFs affect,
say or create an autoimmune type reaction in the body,
or it just exacerbate your current condition?
There is so many ways that these EMFs,
these electromagnetic fields impact our health.
So, the skin notably, and that was one of my reactions,
was this prickly, tingling skin.
And so I got this burning sensation up the side of my face,
when I was using the cellphone.
When I was around Wi-Fi, I was getting
that kind of burning sensation.
I never had Wi-Fi at home, for instance.
But I was reacting just to the computer.
And then after, because I became more sensitized,
I was getting that reaction to the computer.
So, skin rashes, all those kind of prickly, tingling sensations.
That’s a very common one.
Another one is all kinds of nervous system issues.
And that can be manifest as sleep problems, insomnia.
Brain fog is another big one.
Confusion, all sorts of neurological issues.
Just general body aches and pains.
For instance, gut issues, because we know
that these exposures can appear to proliferate the creation of bad bacteria.
And this kind of double whammy effect,
they suppress this good bacteria, and they proliferate the bad bacteria.
And that in itself, when we know that 80% of the immune system
is in the gut.
That’s major one.
So, honestly, the list is very, very long, Gabe,
as to how these exposures can impact you, in terms of the symptoms.
And then in terms of, there's a lot of links now
between these exposures and different diseases, serious diseases.
We’re talking cancers, cardiovascular disease,
Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, many neurodegenerative diseases, and so on.
And obviously autoimmune diseases also.
So the list is very, very long.
Well, it makes sense that once you start to disturb
the body’s natural rhythms and even the nervous system,
by having us be in this noise all the time,
and these fields, the body really never has a chance to fully rest.
And therefore heal and regenerate in the way that it normally would.
So, where do you recommend people begin,
if they’ve really never taken action?
Maybe they’ve heard a bit about this,
but they need to, okay I need to become aware of this.
Where do I start?
So, where do you start?
The first thing is to really just understand this a little bit.
And perhaps that’s what you're doing today.
Perhaps you’ve never heard anybody talk about this before.
And so, I think really maybe just understanding what these EMFs are.
What the heck does EMF mean?
When I say it, it means electromagnetic field.
When some of these people say EMF,
it means electromagnetic frequency.
Other people talk about EMR, electromagnetic radiation.
It’s so confusing.
But what we’re really talking about is these manmade exposures,
these forces that are created by these different devices
which are now in our lives, which are wonderful in many respects.
But there is the price to pay.
And there's two categories of devices.
There's the wireless devices, which is like the telephone,
what I was talking about before.
But then there are so many other wireless devices in our lives now
like the Wi-Fi, anything smart.
Smart really means wireless.
And Bluetooth also.
And all of those things, smart, Bluetooth, cellphones,
all of this wireless, it actually means radio frequency microwave radiation.
That’s really what it is.
So, that’s the wireless aspect.
And all of these devices are operating at different frequencies.
And this is a key thing to understand as you begin to go into.
You don’t really need to know this at the outset,
but as you go into this, this relationship
between frequency and wavelength.
And certainly this is what is happening now with the 5G.
We can talk about that in a little bit if you want.
But we’re going into these new frequencies with the 5G.
In part that’s what 5G means.
And so, we’ve got this wireless category
and then we’ve got this wired category of EMF.
For instance, I’m here in my office.
You’re over there in your office.
And we’re surrounded by electrical wiring, obviously,
because I’ve got lights on in here,
I’ve got this computer going and everything,
I’ve got another computer going.
I’ve got the printer and all of these gadgets and things.
And so, we’re surrounded by these wires.
So okay, what’s the big deal?
We’re surrounded by wires.
Well, the big deal is that unfortunately this electricity
does not stay in the wire.
And this electricity emits an electromagnetic field.
And these are lower frequencies.
So, you for instance, you're at 60 Hz over there in the US.
I’m at 50 Hz here in France.
That means you're at 60 cycles per second,
so back and forth 60 samples a second.
Unfortunately that’s not all that is on your electrical wiring.
Because that in itself is arguably, and there are statistics.
Dr. Sam Milham has done research on this,
when electricity was introduced in the US,
correlation between death rates and cancer and different diseases,
and the introduction of just electricity.
And this is right back when it all started,
without all these gadgets that we’ve introduced now,
which are adding other, different exposures
and pollutants onto this electricity.
And the other pollutants, what we’re talking about here is other frequencies.
Because you don’t just have unfortunately, the 60 Hz.
You have other frequencies.
And these other frequencies, which are on there,
we call them dirty electricity.
And be they the dirty electricity frequencies
or the regular electricity frequencies, the 60 Hz sine waves,
all of this goes out into the room,
it permeates out into everything in the room, including you.
It doesn’t stay on the wire.
And that is the problem.
And it’s the cumulative nature of all of this.
So, it’s the 5G, it’s all the wireless,
it’s your Wi-Fi, it’s all these devices that we use,
the smart TV, whatever you’ve got in your home.
Because pretty much everything now is smart.
So, we’re moving into this smart internet of things world,
where everything is connected.
Sounds great but in reality,
this is really very difficult time for our biological systems,
because we’ve not evolved to live in this manmade electromagnetic world.
We evolved to live in this world
where there were only the frequencies of the earth.
There's human resonance, and there's magnetic field of the earth
from the earth’s magnetic core, and so on.
These natural frequencies.
And so, we’ve got all these other frequencies
which are assaulting our bodies 24x7.
And particularly assaulting our bodies
when we sleep, as you were mentioning.
And that is the big problem.
So that’s, very sorry, a long answer to your question,
of what is it to understand.
That’s what people need to understand.
And so, the protocol I share with people is really simple.
It’s a 3-step protocol.
And I call it the UMM.
And the UMM stands for, U for understand, M for measure.
We have to measure these electromagnetic fields.
And there’s very simple ways of doing that with EMF meters.
And the third M stands for mitigate.
And there is 3 ways to mitigate.
And the first is to turn the thing off, if you can.
The second is to increase the distance.
This is basic law of physics.
When you increase the distance
between you and the source of the exposure,
then the exposure drops off exponentially.
And all that means is it just drops off really very, very significantly.
And the third means of dealing with this is to shield.
And that is a kind of last resort, and a bit technical,
and not really what I’m advising for most people.
And that’s only good to do in certain situations.
But that is kind of the overview of this.
And that’s a protocol that I share with people.
And that’s what I learnt the hard way.
And it works.
Yeah. And in your book, The EMF Practical Guide,
which is great, and really lays out not only
the broad understanding of these issues.
You encourage people to get an EMF meter,
which really isn’t that big of an investment.
And check their home.
And that in itself, can really incentivize people
because once they see those measurements,
and where that EMF exposure’s coming from,
then it really creates a visual connection to something that is invisible.
And that’s a big part of this, is that it’s invisible.
We just don’t see it affecting us.
So, it’s hard to remember and really think of it as something that could be.
And you measure and then, maybe you could take us
through a little about someone gets an EMF meter
and then they go into their home.
What do they measure and how do they mitigate from there?
Yeah. So, I can do that.
I can also share some tips that you can do, without having a meter.
So yeah, a meter is going to set you back
a few hundred dollars perhaps, something like that.
And there's different meters you can purchase.
And the one I’m recommending at the moment
is a tri-field TF2, which is a multifunction meter.
It’s a tri-mode meter.
That’s to say it can measure three things - radio frequency radiation,
so things like cellphones, Wi-Fi, everything wireless.
Not everything, but certain frequencies.
And it can also measure electric fields.
So that would be off your wiring and magnetic fields off your wiring too.
And other devices, not just wiring.
And so, how would you go about.
Well, the thing to understand with these EMFs is,
where it’s important to measure.
Where it’s important to understand what's going on
in terms of your exposure, is in all the rooms where you spend time.
And where is the room where you perhaps spend the most time.
But in any case, where is the room
where that time has the greatest premium,
where it’s the most important?
Well, that room is your bedroom.
And that is, what you were saying earlier,
it’s because when you sleep,
it’s when your body regenerates, rejuvenates.
There's a whole load of hormonal reactions going on. Detoxes.
And we know there's a lot of science
behind this that these EMF exposures,
and particularly radio frequency radiation exposures,
that they impact this process, notably the creation of melatonin,
which is this hormone which is created principally
when you sleep, by the pineal gland.
And what seems to be happening
is that your body is interpreting EMFs,
these different frequencies as light.
So it’s as if you're trying to sleep in broad daylight,
which is not possible or not conducive to sleep anyway.
And your body is having a really, really hard time
to create this melatonin,
which is considered by many to be the master hormone.
So, it’s upsetting your hormonal reactions.
And so, yeah it’s in the bedroom
where you need to measure first and foremost.
Where in the bedroom?
Where you lay, quite simply.
And where you lay?
Well, principally, where you put your head.
And so, it’s really head to toe, but certainly,
and it’s really quite simple to do.
You have to be a little bit methodical, scientific about this.
What I recommend is, if you do get this meter,
is to measure over 3 separate days, 3 times a day,
like morning, noon, and evening.
And write it all down.
And you need to monitor this.
So, I do consultations from time to time.
So, I give a lot of information out free on my website.
But people want to get it from the horse’s mouth.
And literally, I got caught out with this thing,
because I’m really careful what comes into my environment.
And I check everything.
And we’ve moved over to fiber optic since just before the summer.
And the fiber optic guy came and I was here.
And but it wasn’t working.
And he came back and I must have gone out for like an hour.
And I came back and my wife says,
“Oh, the fiber optic guy came and it’s now working.”
And I go, “Why did you let him into my office?
You should have told him to come back when I was here.
I wanted to be here to understand it and pick his brain, so to speak.”
And, because of all of that, I don’t know, somehow,
I overlooked testing this thing.
And I think I did test it on the day,
but only for radio frequency radiation.
I never tested it for electric fields.
Last week, I was on a call with a client.
And she was having really big problems with EMFs from her computer.
And I said, “Well listen, you need to get your tri-field.
Oh, I’ve got a tri-field.
You need to get this tri-field.”
So, she had a tri-field but an old tri-field.
So, she got the right tri-field.
So, it was over multiple sessions I had with her.
And I got my tri-field out and I switched it on.
And I was, oh boy, what's going on here?
I hadn’t noticed that.
And, so I had been sat in this very high electric field
because of this modem that was introduced.
And I’ve resolved that now, by grounding it basically.
And so, even me, I get caught out.
So, the moral of the story is, until you’ve got the meter,
the thing is, with me, before I was getting the symptoms.
And I’m not getting the symptoms.
And I don’t always feel the frequencies
so I’m feeling certain frequencies but not others.
But when you get the symptoms, boy,
does that make you take action.
But when you don’t get the symptoms,
and you don’t feel it, and you don’t have a meter,
then literally, you're in the blind.
Totally in the blind about this.
So, you need to have the meter to be able to get the readings
in all these rooms where you spend time, notably the bedroom.
Notably an office where you're spending time.
So, in here, it’s easier for me because it’s my office.
If you're in a shared office, it’s bit more complicated.
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t certain things you can do.
And this is really the key.
All these rooms where you spend time.
Measure and then mitigate in these ways,
these 3 ways that I shared, which is either turning off,
increasing the distance, or shielding in some shape or form.
There’s lots of different ways to shield, if you have to.
But shielding is always last resort.
We only shield if we absolutely have to, because when we shield,
we’re introducing lord knows what into our environment.
That’s to say, other manmade materials
which can bring with them their share of problems.
So, really, the ultimate healer is Mother Nature.
It’s connecting with nature.
And when you connect with nature,
and that’s the other part of it, if you want.
Part of dealing with EMFs is connecting with nature,
connecting with natural light,
being exposed to natural light, grounding or earthing.
And so, it’s dealing with EMFs
and then it’s connecting with nature.
And when you bring all that together,
that’s where the magic happens.
Well, and you mentioned of course, the measurements,
let’s say you're in the bedroom.
And you discover high exposures.
And you say, okay, we’re going to make sure
we turn off our cellphones at night.
Not even have them in the room.
Ideally we’re going to turn off the Wi-Fi at night,
if you even have Wi-Fi in the home.
You're going to also, some of those readings maybe detecting…
would an EMF meter detect, say,
a smart meter on the other side of your wall,
of your bedroom, and that affecting you?
It should. Depends on how the smart meter works.
Because some smart meters are radio frequency.
They’re sending out a signal, like a cellphone signal.
And some of them are doing it multiple times a minute.
And others are sending out a signal once a day.
And others are not using radio frequency radiation at all.
They're sending a signal down the electrical wire,
and polluting your electrical system in that way.
So, it just depends how your electric smart meter is operating.
But certainly, if it’s a radio frequency one,
then that is something you should be able to detect.
And then we’re going back, what I was saying about my protocol,
is testing on multiple days, multiple times during the day.
For a smart meter you’d need to test more than that,
more than 3 times in a day you’d have
to kind of switch it on for few hours at a time.
And be very observant to be able to detect that possibly.
But yeah, you should.
And there are ways of shielding from smart meters.
There are solutions for all of this.
And what's also important is, one of the biggest hazards today
for most people is their cellphone.
So, it’s not what kind of cellphone you’ve got.
It’s how you use it.
And people do not know how to use their cellphone safely.
Yeah, absolutely.
Even though many of us have a certain awareness around this,
oh, this is maybe an issue.
Or, yeah, okay now I know I shouldn’t talk at length
with my cellphone right at my ear.
But, I still see so many people doing that.
And I see everyone carrying them in their pockets while they are on.
I’ve got into this habit of, if it goes in my pocket
it is in airplane mode or it is off.
If I do talk, it’s on speakerphone.
And I set it on the desk or I use a headset that’s not Bluetooth.
Just some of those steps.
I’m sure you have a lot of other recommendations.
Yeah. That’s really great tips you’ve shared there.
It’s all manner of wireless connectivity.
That’s what you need to switch off.
So, it’s the cellular, it’s the Bluetooth, it’s the GPS, if you can.
It’s all forms of wireless connectivity.
And the problem is that sometimes you switch things off
and you think they're off, and they're not off.
And that’s why we’re back to the EMF meter.
That’s the only way you can know for sure,
testing with an EMF meter.
That will tell you straightaway.
And yeah, distance is your friend with these devices.
And what I recommend is an air tube headset,
or a device which you can get from SYB - ShieldYourBody.com,
which converts a regular headset into kind of an air tube operation.
So, it’s just a bit of tubing with air in it
which breaks this metallic connector
which actually connect as an antenna.
And if you're just using a regular headset,
it can actually make matters worse
by beaming the ambient radiation in the room, directly into your brain.
So that’s why we avoid that.
And text, don’t talk.
That’s another one.
Doesn’t mean you go willy-nilly on the text all day long.
It means that you try and minimize
using your cellphone, full stop, actually.
Really, my advice, my number one recommendation,
it might sound a bit hard line
but it is to only use a cellphone in emergencies.
This should not be part of your daily life,
communicating with this radio frequency microwave radiation device.
And again, again, again, the way to get the motivation
is like you did, Gabe, I’m sure,
is to start researching this and looking into it.
Don’t believe me.
Just start looking at the studies and reputable independent websites,
where you can get this information.
And really understand what's going on.
What it’s doing to your body.
Because people, it’s really kind of ironic
because they're looking after their health in so many ways,
doing so many things.
Working out, and putting expensive creams and stuff,
and being careful about what they eat, and so on.
And yet, they are killing themselves slowly,
sometimes very quickly, by using some horrible horror stories,
which I’ve heard, which are on my website,
how these exposures have impacted people and notably children.
So, yeah, it really makes sense to wise up about this.
Yes, it’s just one of the very foundational steps for overall health,
whether you're dealing with chronic illness or not.
There's so many things, having walked this path,
and encountered so many others.
You can start going to doctors, and doing modalities, and diet,
and supplements, and yet you might have mold at home,
or you might have mercury filling still that are affecting you.
Things that are really the root cause of something.
And EMF is obviously one that, it’s sort of like,
it actually is as you said, a low hanging fruit that you can address.
And you would know, okay I’ve dealt with that.
I’ve created the right environment to live in, work in, sleep in.
That at least I know that I’ve mitigated that issue
and its effect on my biology.
And instead we’re all running around with these phones
as almost extensions of our bodies now.
And it’s pretty scary to think about what that’s doing to us.
One of the challenges I had was just trying to get the Wi-Fi
to be able to turn off in my hone.
Because the router that I had from the cable company was a dual router.
And so, even if I turned off the Wi-Fi,
it actually was never off.
I had to buy separate modem and router.
So, some of these details which you lay out in your book are great,
because it really helps guide people step-by-step
on really how you do this right, because it can get a little complicated.
It can get complicated, unfortunately.
And the thing is, just to really take one step at a time with this,
and not to get overwhelmed with it.
And start with the cellphone already.
Start using that sensibly.
Start looking into this.
Because when you look into it,
then you’ll get the motivation to do more.
Then you’ll get the motivation to buy the EMF meter.
Then you’ll get the motivation to take the other steps and protect.
You’ll say, wow!
Yeah, I didn’t realize that my printer was giving off this Wi-Fi also.
It’s connected by cable to my computer,
how can it be giving off Wi-Fi radiation also?
I didn’t realize my TV was giving off Wi-Fi.
I didn’t realize my dishwasher was giving off this radiation like my cellphone.
I didn’t realize my oven, why would my oven do this?
Why would my blower, which I use to blow the leaves in my garden,
why would that emit Bluetooth?
I didn’t know that, until I got this EMF meter.
And so that’s really, being a bit curious.
Looking at the cellphone, certainly.
The Wi-Fi’s another big one for many, many people.
And there's lots of things you can do there.
Just by unplugging it at night, is really doing your body a big favor.
And then there's more elaborate means of protecting yourself with,
for instance, a mechanical timer, which costs $10.
And it switches the thing off automatically.
Like, I had this idea one Christmas,
with the Christmas tree lights we had the mechanical timer.
I thought, why don’t we use that on the Wi-Fi?
I never had a modem router,
but I was thinking that’s a really good idea to use on that.
And, you can go into the settings and switch off the Wi-Fi.
But I recommend you actually electrically switch it off,
ecause the problem is, there’s software updates and it reactivates then.
So again, unless you’ve got a meter you don’t know.
So yes, that’s really the second one for most people, the biggie,
is dealing with that radio frequency radiation from the Wi-Fi,
which you don’t want to be impacting you at night certainly.
And the third one is a little challenge that I like to set to people.
And it’s an opportunity to talk about wired and discover that,
is to go to your breaker panel, or consumer panel in your home
where all the little electrical switches are, the different circuits.
And switch off the circuit for the bedroom.
And do that for a week.
Is it guaranteed that you're going to feel better? No.
Because sometimes it can be an electrical imbalance
and that can actually create more electric fields in the bedroom
when you're doing that.
But, it’s a good thing to try because sometimes it can,
and if you find that you do sleep better,
because that has reduced say, your electric field
that you're sleeping in, in your bedroom.
And by the way, the dirty electricity exposures too.
Then there are devices which you can buy
which can do this remotely or automatically.
For instance, every night I go to bed
and I don’t sleep in the electric fields.
There is no dirty electricity.
And it’s really, this is the way Mother Nature designed us,
is to sleep in these kinds of environments.
And so, this is what your body wants.
This is what it’s calling out for.
And it’s just a gradual, beneficial process after this.
And over time where you're feeling better, and you're sleeping better.
If I go in a hotel or something and I’ve got it,
I’m sleeping in electric field,
then I’m not necessarily waking up and being disturbed by it.
But, these frequencies are impacting our health at a cellular level.
They're impacting everybody’s health at cellular level
whether you can feel it or now.
That’s what the studies are telling us.
That’s the reason that you should be taking action.
Well, and this led you as well into the area
of healing with frequency and vibration.
You have a really great summit, The Healing with Vibration summit.
I think this is a great area where we can sort of clarify for people
how natural EMFs from the Earth and from different ways
now that we can generate them, can help counter
and are different than the EMFs that we’re getting,
that are actually disturbing us.
Yeah. So, the problem is that what's happened
with this wireless revolution, unfortunately,
is that no thought had been given at all
to the health consequences of all this technology.
And it was just surely, I tend to think that,
I’ve got no proof of this, but I don’t think it was people thinking,
“Well, let’s create some really horrible technology
which is going to cause suffering and decimate populations,
and stuff like that.”
I don’t think it was that.
But this is the truth of what is happening.
It is creating suffering and it is creating ill-health on a massive scale.
And it doesn’t have to be the case.
It really doesn’t have to be the case.
But these frequencies, these very, very complex frequencies which are used.
And combination of frequencies, and polarization of the wave,
and also modulation of the wave,
how the information is carried on the wave, this pulsing,
and all of this, really makes for a perfect storm
in terms of what it’s doing to our health.
And just to be clear, it’s not just about EMFs, it’s EMFs,
and everything else, all the other toxins
which we’re exposed to, talking about mold, and chemicals,
and the pollution in the air that we breathe, etcetera,
and the food that we eat, and so on and so forth.
And it’s this. It’s all this which is acting together.
And that is the problem.
When we know that there are frequencies
which are highly beneficial for health,
and those frequencies are principally frequencies of nature.
Light in itself is an electromagnetic field.
It’s in the electromagnetic spectrum.
And natural light is tremendously beneficial for health.
Sunlight - creation of vitamin D3.
But not just that, there's just a whole load of health benefits
from being exposed to natural light.
And being connected to this cycle,
and having this natural circadian cycle,
really being connected to the earth’s cycles, and the seasons.
We are designed to fit in and change with these seasons.
And we should be eating food in accordance with these seasons,
not like the same food all year long.
We should be eating seasonal foods
because these seasonal foods have properties
which are beneficial at certain times of the year.
And so, we’ve got these natural frequencies of nature.
And really a great way to connect with
that is through this practice of grounding or earthing, it’s called.
Which is, at its simplest, it’s just walking barefoot on the ground,
being in contact with the ground.
And soaking up all these negative electrical charges,
which are highly beneficial for health.
And there’s been quite a bit of studies done on this,
which is showing that it’s very beneficial
for reducing inflammation, and relaxation,
putting the body into a parasympathetic mode,
in terms of the autonomic nervous system.
And a whole load of other benefits.
So that’s just taking your shoes off.
And there's technologies that go with that,
which enable you, which I’ve got, which I use occasionally.
So, you can actually earth in your own home also.
So, that’s really what I encourage people to do,
is to think about all these, when you're outside,
even if you're not in direct contact with the earth,
that you're still being impacted by.
Everything has a vibration.
And that’s one of the things which we talked about
during the Healing with Vibration summit.
Everything. You, me, every plant,
every tree, every rock, every stone, everything.
And all these natural elements,
these plants and so on, and everything in nature, and soil.
And that has a natural vibration.
And this is highly compatible with health.
Whereas, when we’re indoors, in our very cozy offices,
with all our gadgets, having a great time, that is not compatible.
That is not highly compatible with health in any case.
And so, yeah, that’s really very simply,
what I encourage people to do, is to reconnect
with these healing energies of nature.
And also, then we’ve got these wonderful devices now which exist.
You were talking about PEMF, these pulsed electromagnetic fields,
which work at certain frequencies.
And there's all kinds of devices now.
We’ve got infrared devices which also are amazing for localized pain,
and near infrared, far infrared.
Micro current therapy, that’s another one
which is really coming on strong,
being used more and more in the alternative health space.
And so there's a lot of research on this.
Or, there is research on this anyway.
But all these different frequencies,
because not only do we have a certain vibration,
but every organ, every tissue also has its own vibration.
And what the studies are showing is,
there's like an optimal vibration.
And we have these devices, the quantum devices.
You don’t even have to be in the same country,
and you can be linked up on a quantum device
which is sending out a certain healing frequency,
and that’s kind of the cutting edge stuff.
But yeah, frequency really is a fascinating subject.
And EMFs are just, these manmade EMFs,
that’s the world we live in.
But it’s not because that’s the world we live in,
that we need to be mindful of all these other ways
that we can use frequency in a beneficial way.
Yeah, all those things that you mentioned,
over time I discovered as well.
And one of my big issue was dealing
with joint pain and joint swelling, particularly in my knees.
And I used to go to the beach and put my feet in the sand,
and sit there for an hour or two.
And I would get up to go for a walk to the water
and half the time I was limping.
But I would feel significant improvement.
And I thought, that is really interesting.
And then eventually this research on earthing came out, and grounding.
So, I started making that much more of a habit.
And then looking at the thermography studies,
where you could actually see within an hour or 30 minutes sometimes,
this dramatic reduction in inflammation.
And I too have a mat under my desk in the office.
And a mat I sleep on as well.
It’s amazing, just bring nature back in, in every way we can.
And then of course I’ve had wonderful experiences
with pulse electromagnetic field therapy,
and red light therapy, with a lot of the biological medicine that we did,
which utilizes a lot of technology.
So, it’s really exciting where things
are going to help kind of balance out
what we’re doing in this highly technological world we’re living in.
Yes, absolutely. To a certain extent,
I think we can have our cake and eat it.
But, there is a bit of a learning curve.
And it does mean learning the different ways
that we can mitigate the effects of these EMFs.
And using the cellphone safely, and going hardwired ultimately.
That’s my top recommendation again, for the Wi-Fi.
The top recommendation is not to have Wi-Fi, I’m sorry.
It’s where Ethernet is way better.
Hardwired connection is way faster, safer, more secure.
And yeah, it’s a process.
Dealing with all this, it’s a process.
And, just step-by-step, understanding these exposures.
And just adapting over time your lifestyle
to minimize your exposure to these EMFs.
And then, at the same time connect more with these.
It can just be, like before I came on, I went outside.
I knew was going to be on for a while with you.
I went outside.
As soon as I’m finished, I’ll go straight outside.
It’s nearly dark here now.
I’m going to go outside again.
I’m sat here, I’ve got no shoes on my feet, I’m sorry.
But I’ll go outside again, and I’ll go back on my lawn.
And just go and reconnect.
And that is just so beneficial.
