3 Hacking Guide

Do not update through Nintendo

on a softmodded Wii!
This guide could not have been made possible without the fine people at Team

Introduction
• THIS IS FOR USE ON ANY SYSTEM MENU, I SUGGEST USING BANNERBOMB
HOWEVER FOR LOWER SYSTEM MENUS.
• 4.3K for now you are out of luck.
• System Menu below 4.3? [please see this thread]
• This tutorial will hack a unmodded Wii System Menu 4.3U or 4.3E.
• Hack / softmod / "flash" the Wii so you can play your backup games on USB Device.
• Play burned Wii DVD without a modchip! [please see this thread]
• Play burned GameCube DVD without a modchip! [please see this thread and this forum]
• Install Homebrew Channel and Bootmii.
• Install Priiloader with appropriate hacks.ini.
• After this tutorial you can also do the following.
• Use your Wii as a Media Server. [please see this thread]
• Play many emulators including NES, SNES, N64, Gameboy, Sega Genisis and more.

• Play all downloaded VC/WiiWare games for free. [please see this forum and this forum]
• Install Custom System Menu Theme to customize the look of your boring white System
Menu. [please see this forum]
• To check System Menu number, go to the icon "Wii Options" and "Wii Settings", the
number is marked on the top right.

REQUIREMENTS
• 300 free blocks of Wii memory

• 2 GB SD Card (Sandisk works best)

• Indiana Jones Original Adventures (NTSCU or PAL) - 4.3U or 4.3E

OR
• Super Smash Bros Brawl (NTSCU) - 4.3U
OR
• Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Wheelie Breakers (NTSCJ or NTSCU) -4.3J or 4.3U

YES I KNOW THERE IS AN EXPLOIT FOR 4.3E OR PAL SYSTEMS TITLED YU-GI-OWNED!
THE REASON I HAVE NOT YET ADDED THIS EXPLOIT IS DUE TO ONE VERSION BEING FOR
50MHZ, AND THE OTHER FOR 60MHZ, AND I WANT TO KEEP THIS GUIDE AS SIMPLE AS
POSSIBLE. IF A VERSION OF THE EXPLOIT COMES OUT THAT SUPPORTS BOTH VIDEO
MODES I WILL ADD IT.

Hidden: Step 0 - Preparation

Download ---> 4.3 Hack Installation Package

• Download and unzip the package "4.3 Hack Installation Package" on your computer.
• Copy the contents of the "1st Step" to the root of your SD card. [i.e. directly when you
open the SD card.]
• Choose which hacks you need for priiloader and rename is as just "hacks" and leave it in
the directory of the SD Card.

NTSCU hacks is for 4.3U

PAL hacks is for 4.3E

NTSCJ hacks is for 4.3J

Hidden: Step 1 – Running An Exploit

 Hidden: Step 1A – Indiana Pwns – works with 4.3U and 4.3E

• Play Lego Indiana Jones Original, complete the first level, make a save game.
• Go to Wii settings, data management, save games, Wii
• Delete the Lego Indiana Jones save game.
• Click SD, copy Indiana PWNS for your region. (rlie - NTSCU)(rlip - PAL)
• DO NOT CONNECT THE WII NUNCHUCK.
• Play Lego Indiana Jones, load save game slot 1.
• When the game loads, you will be in Barnett College. Walk to the Art Room (through the
Courtyard), approach the left character on the podium. When it zooms on him, choose the
switch to option (two silhouettes, staggered, with an arrow pointing between them).
• Hackmii Installer is launched, go to Step 2 - Hackmii Installer.

Hidden: Step 1B – Smash Stack – works with 4.3U only

• DO NOT CONNECT THE WII NUNCHUCK.

• Load SSBB with sd-card removed, make a save file.
• Go to the stage builder, delete all custom stages, exit stage builder.
• Insert SD-CARD, Go to stage builder.
• Hackmii Installer is launched, go to Step 2 - Hackmii Installer.

Hidden: Step 1C – Yu-Gi-Vah – works with 4.3J or 4.3U

• Create a save game.

• Go to the Wii memory settings, and delete the saved game.
• Go to SD menu in save game data and copy over the save game from the memory card,
for your region.
• Load the new saved game from the game's menu, and Hackmii Installer will load.

Hidden: Step 2 - Hackmii Installer

• Hackmii installer is launched, wait for about 20-30 seconds then Press (1) when prompted
to continue.
• Press (A) to continue.
• Install Homebrew Channel.
• Install bootmii as boot2 (if you can).
• Hackmii Installer exits to system menu.
• If installed as boot2, go to Step 2.2 - Create a NAND Backup.
• If installed only as IOS, go to Step 3 - DarkCorp.

Error - "No Volnerable IOS" Suck it...

If Hackmii told you to suck it-
format sd:\ and extract NV-IOS-FIX.zip to sd:\
Run an exploit - Wadmanager should load
Install ios38 and ios61, run the hackmii installer again
 Hidden: Step 2.2 - Create a NAND Backup

• Hold the Power button for 5 seconds to power off your Wii.
• With the SD Card inserted, power on your Wii.
• Bootmii is loaded. [if not then you only installed as IOS]
• Press the Power button on the front of your Wii 3 times to get to the last option.[You can
also navigate with a Gamecube controller.]
• Press the reset button.
• Press reset to choose the first option.
• Press reset to start the backup process.
• Wait for the backup and verify to finish.
• [Up to 80 bad blocks are no problem.]
• Backup the Bootmii folder, NAND.bin, & keys.bin elsewhere on your PC, disc, online,
SOMEWHERE SAFE!
• Go to Step 3 - DarkCorp.

ECC failure (uncorrectable.) for page##

Extract ppcboot.elf.zip to sd:\ -This should fix the ECC failure if you get the error

Hidden: Step 3 - Hacking Your Wii

Hidden: Step 3a - DarkCorp

This hacking method applies patched IOSes that allow you to run burned games through the
disc channel.

• Load DarkCorp Installer from Homebrew Channel.

• Select - Install: Virgin Wii method (TBR + cIOS249 r17b + CORP)
• When it finishes, exit DarkCorp Installer and Go to Step 4 - Priiloader.

OR

Hidden: Step 3b - Pimp My Wii

This hacking method uses official IOSes to hack the Wii.

• Load Pimp My Wii from Homebrew Channel.

• Select Hack Your Wii / Minimal Installation
• Press A to do a network hack, or B to use the offline files (included in the package).
• When it finishes, exit Pimp My Wii and Go to Step 4 - Priiloader.

Hidden: Step 4 - Priiloader

• Load Priiloader from Homebrew Channel.

• Hold (B) and press (+) to start the installation.
• After finished installing, press and hold the reset button on the front of your Wii.
• Go to Settings.
• Ensure Autoboot: and Return to: are set to System Menu.
• Change the Background Color to Black. (much easier to see)
• Save settings.
• Press (B) and go to System Menu Hacks.
• Enable desired hacks. At minimum i suggest enable Block Disc Updates, Move Disc
Channel, and Block Online Updates.
• Save Settings.
• Press (B) and select Homebrew Channel.
• Go to Step 5 - cIOS and Custom Channels.

If you want to access priiloader in the future, you can access priiloader using these
methods:
• Hold reset while Wii is powered on.
• Hold reset while Wii is powering on.
• Change autoboot to priiloader. (in priiloader settings)

Hidden: Step 5 - cIOS and Custom Channels

• Load Wad Manager from Homebrew Channel.

• Choose either IOS36 or IOS249 for install (whichever one works best), Press (A).
• Press (A) to open from SD slot.

Install the wads:

• cIOS249_v19_(Base_IOS37_v3869).wad (used for certain games to play easier)

• cIOS250_v19_[Base_IOS57_v5661].wad (used for certain games to play easier)
• Hermes cIOS222-v4 [38].wad (used for certain games to play easier)
• Hermes cIOS223-v4 [38+37].wad (used for certain games to play easier)
• RVL-cmios-v4-v3.6-Waninkoko.wad (used to load GC games through disc channel, if
DarkCorp is installed)
• WiiFlow Forwarder.wad (Wiiflow forwarder)
• WiiMC – WIMC.wad (WiiMC forwarder)
• WiiMC IOS202.wad (WiiMC IOS 202, used for this version of WiiMC)

Hidden: Step 6 - SD Card Clean Up

• If Bootmii installed as boot2, backup the Bootmii folder, NAND.bin, & keys.bin elsewhere.
If you dont want bootmii loaded when the wii powers on use the BootMii Configuration
Editor.
• After backing up the bootmii files (if nessecary), delete everything off the SD card, then
take the files and folders from “2nd Step” and put them on the root of the SD card.

Hidden: Simple Guide For Setting Up USB Loader Hard Drive

Introduction
• This guide will help you setup an external USB Device for use with your Wii to play
backups from WBFS formatted partition.

• This guide will also give you the option to setup a FAT32 partition for use with homebrew
apps and media files.

• After following this guide all you need to do is get your hard drive setup and transfer some
games.

Hidden: What You Need

• A hacked Wii.

• External USB Device.

• Wii Backup Manger.zip

Hidden: Partitions

Creating two partition is optional. The advantage to creating two partitions is for larger
drives. This way you can store homebrew apps and media files to the usb device. However if
you have a smaller usb device you may only want to create one NTFS partition for your
games only.

Use a third party partition manager such as PowerQuest PartitionMagic or Paragon Partition
Manager.

The first partition should be FAT32 and only needs to be sized large enough for Homebrew
applications and media files. At minimum I suggest 5 GB. I have all the compatible USA
NES, SNES and N64 emulator games, cover images and homebrew apps only using 1.8 GB.
Set the FAT32 partition as primary and active.

The second partition needs to be NTFS and sized the entire rest of the drive. Be sure to
think about what size you want for WBFS. You can not resize WBFS partitions without
removing all games to another drive and reformatting. So I suggest to create WBFS as large
as possible.

Select appropriate drive letters. I set my FAT32 partition as F: and the WBFS partition as
W:.

Hidden: FAT32 Partition

This is optional. See above.

If you choose to use USB instead of SD Card. You can setup the FAT32 partition exactly the
same as you would setup the SD Card.
e.g ... usb:\apps\wiiflow\boot.dol and so forth for other apps.

Most applications will default to SD Card first. If SD is not detected then will switch to USB.
All the forwarder channels in this package will look at both SD and USB.

For Wiiflow, you can choose where you want the themes, music, and settings to be loaded
from. It can be loaded from either the SD card or the hard drives FAT32 partition.

NOTE: The wiiflow.ini file is created after you loaded Wiiflow on your Wii.
• open the wiiflow folder in the root of your sd card [or usb fat32]
• edit the wiiflow.ini to read "data_on_usb=no" to read from sd card
• edit the wiiflow.ini to read "data_on_usb=yes" to read from usb fat32

Hidden: WBFS Formatting

• Open Wii Backup Manager.

• Click the Tools drop menu.
• Click Format Drives...
• Select the drive letter you want to use for games.
• Select WBFS as the new file system.
• Be very careful, be sure to select the correct drive.
• Click Start.
• You now have a WBFS partition.

Hidden: Transferring Games

• Open Wii Backup Manager.

• Click the Drive 1 tab.
• Click the Drive drop menu.
• Select the WBFS partition.
• Click the Files tab.
• Click the Add drop menu.
• Browse to a compatible file or directory of folders containing compatible files.
• Click the Select drop menu and click All.
• Click the Transfer drop menu and select Drive 1.

This is only the basics. There are many options of Wii Backup Manger and you should
become familiar with them.

Hidden: Playing the games

• Connect your USB Device to the outer most usb port on the back of your wii console.
• Connect the power cord if needed.
• Power on your wii.
• Select Wiiflow Channel.
• Select Start.
Wiiflow usually defaults to creating the settings in the FAT32 partition, so it is best to place
the Wiiflow folder with the themes and the ini files in the root of your FAT32 partition, if you
have one.

If you have Wi-Fi connection to your Wii console click on the settings button and press the
+ button a few times till you see the option of downloading all covers. Press A on it and let
it download the covers for all of your games. Wiiflow allows you to have full boxcovers
which have the front and back to it.

You can customize the way Wiiflow looks by changing the coverflow settings.

I have provided you with themes. There is a far variety of themes to choose from. You have
to put the theme's .ini file with the theme's folder in the themes folder which is located in
the wiiflow folder in the root of your SD card or FAT32 partition.
e.g. SD:/wiiflow/themes/starnight.ini

In order to play a game, you select a game's cover, then you press the play button which is
a triangle sideways. There are certain games which require you to play using IOSs other
than IOS249, you change that by clicking on the tool button on a game and changing it to
222/223.

The 1 and 2 button allows you to choose from different coverflows, which is a pretty sight to
see.

If you want to add music, you must convert it to .ogg format and place it in
SD:/wiiflow/music/name of song.ogg (or USB:/wiiflow/music/name of song.ogg if you are
using your FAT32 partition.)

There are a lot of other things you can do, but they aren't as important.

Hidden: Launch Channels From Wiiflow

Ever since Wiiflow 2.0, you are able to launch channels that are installed in the Wii from
Wiiflow. You have to press the channels button.

The channels button looks similar to this:

You just click on the cover, and then click play, so if you feel like doing something else and
you are on Wiiflow, you can just click on those channels.

This simple guide will help you to setup a Forwarder Channel for Netflix video streaming.

This is wonderful if you have children. I have setup the instant queue with several movies
and cartoons for my children to watch. Then when they load the Netflix Forwarder Channel
they are taken directly to the instant queue. Very easy to navigate and press the (A) button
a few times to watch the movies.

• Place the wad folder in the root of your sd card.

• Install using wad manager.

• login using your email and password
• click Your Account & Help on the top right
• click Activate a Netflix ready device (located under WATCHING INSTANTLY ON YOUR TV
OR COMPUTER)
• enter the activation code
• enjoy streaming movies

Hidden: Play backed up GameCube and Wii games on Disc

This guide will tell you how to play backed up GameCube and Wii games if your Wii is able
to play games using a disc.

Hidden: What You Need

• A Wii able to play games through disc. (doesn 't have the GC2 D3-2 chipset)

• A softmodded Wii following the Hack My Wii guide

• ImgBurn

Hidden: Burn GameCube and Woi Games

• Download the GameCube or Wii ISO you want.

• Then get a blank DVD-R (preferably Verbatim).
• Burn the game with 4x speed.

Hidden: Play GameCube or Wii games through Wiiiflow or through Disc Menu

• Take the disc and insert it to your Wii's disc slot.

• Then launch Wiiflow, scroll to the options, and click on the disc icon to load the game.
• Since you now have DarkCorp installed if you wish you can play the game through the disc
channel, just like a retail game.
• Start the game and you should be enjoying your game!
