“YOURE SO CLINGY”

Objectives:
At the end of the experiment we should be able;
1. To define what is electrostatic and the relationship between positive charge and
negative charge.
2. To perform the electrostatic activity.
3. To show what activity will happen to straws and cut tissues.

Materials:
 Tissue
 Straw
 Scissors
 Colored paper

Procedure:
1. First, cut the tissues into small pieces.
2. Put it in a colored paper.
3. Pick a straw, rubbed it with another tissue for 1 min.
4. Then observe what happen to the straw and cut tissue.

Observation:
As the activity were performed, the straw that have been rubbed by another
tissue was being charged and heat is observed. While the small cut pieces of tissues
remain negatively charge were attracted to the positively charge straw when there
distance is close. The pieces of tissues stick to the straw more as greater static and
friction was exerted at the straw.

Conclusion:
Electrostatics is a branch of science that involves the investigation of phenomena
related to what appear to be stationary electric charges. Such phenomena are known
as electrostatic phenomena. It has been known since ancient times that the rubbing of
some materials gives them the ability to attract small, light objects. It is first recorded by
Thales of Miletus, suggested the word "electricity" from the Greek word for amber,
electron.
After performing and observing the result of this activity, we come up with a
conclusion that if a material happen to have enough friction when rubbed, it will be
positively charged and when placed above or in a negatively charged object it will
attract, thus creating an electrostatic force between them.
