TNU XVIII, Experiment 37 The Slicer Circuit
Purpose
1. To evaluate a Zener diode slicer circuit.
Introduction
In this experiment, you will examine a diode circuit that can change a sine wave into rectangular
waveform much like transistor did in a prior experiment.
Usually this type of circuit is used to ensure that voltage do not exceed safe limits. In other words,
Zener diodes are used to protect more expensive components.
Procedure
1. Adjust the signal generator frequency 1 Hz, 10 V. This circuit is shown in figure 1.
XSG1 is a signal generator, XSC1 is Oscilloscope, measure the input voltage, XSC2 is
oscilloscope measure output voltage.
2. Using your oscilloscope XSC1, measure the peak-to-peak input voltage, Sketch the input
waveform and list the measured peak values.
3. Using your oscilloscope XSC2, measure the peak-to-peak output voltage, Sketch the input
waveform and list the measured peak values.
4. What is the positive peak voltage of the waveform at output voltage (XSC2) ?
………………………………………………………….
7. Which diode is forward biasing during the negative alternation of the sine wave ?
………………………………………………………….
8. Varies the B1 and B2 in table 1, Record the peak-to-peak amplitude of the output voltage.
9. Buatlah rangkaian seperti gambar 3, dengan cara membalik polaritas B2, dan amati bentuk
gelombang outputnya, Isi table pengamatan 2.
