Her Excellency
Hon. Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo
Vice President of the
Republic of the Philippines
100 10th St, New Manila,
Quezon City, Philippines 1112

Dear Vice President Leni Robredo:

My name is John Paul Aquino, an undergraduate student from De La Salle University-Manila and
an advocate of the liberation of Filipino rice farmers from poverty. The marginalization of Filipino
farmers has been around since the days of feudalism. However, the export-dependent and import-
oriented policies of the government exacerbated their struggles. These, coupled with the rising
prices of basic commodities made it harder for the local farmers to penetrate the preferences of
consumers. This predicament of the Filipino farmer folk can be the potential source of national
issues in the course of time. However, I believe that they deserve a brighter and more secure future.
With these hopes and aspirations in mind, our group will launch information drives through the
use of social media and partnerships with local government units and non-governmental
organizations. The social media campaign will focus on the dissemination of awareness about the
real struggles of Filipino farmers. On the other hand, the partnerships with LGUs and NGOs aim
to connect them with a stable market. Furthermore, local farmers at the grassroots level can learn
more about sustainable agricultural practices through seminars and training. In the long run, we
plan to expand the campaign nationwide to help more disenfranchised farmers.

For all these reasons, we would like to ask for your support. In order to potentiate the scope of the
campaign and reach a wider audience, we would like to partner with the Office of Vice President’s
Angat Buhay program. This can be carried out through the linkage of local farmers as the source
of rice and other produce to be used on the other initiatives of Angat Buhay. Moreover, the social
media accounts of the OVP can publish and share publicity materials concerning the campaign.
Your assistance in this campaign would help the movement tremendously. I am looking forward
to working together towards a better future for the Filipino farmers. Thank you and Godspeed!

Respectfully yours,

John Paul Aquino
