The CELTA course is a highly regarded type of TEFL qualification (teaching English as a
foreign language), equipped with the skills and practical experience to take my teaching
qualification anywhere in the world. I want to take my teaching skills abroad, perhaps I’m
looking for a complete career change, or it could be that I simply want to travel! Whatever
my reasons, teaching English abroad is an experience that will change my life. Not just a

little bit, A LOT. Taking me out of the comfort zone to live and teach in different cultures is
hugely satisfying. Once you’ve spent time doing something you’ve never done before (and
realizing that I actually CAN), I will feel able to manage anything that’s thrown my way, and I
will truly never be the same again. Teaching English helps to personally influence and
change peoples’ lives, so I know what I’ll be doing is worth it. Teaching English can take us
anywhere. And Anywhere are the home of new experiences, different lives, different
languages, and different people. So not only will I be changing lives, but they will also be
changing mine. One thing is for sure: the friends I’ll make abroad are the ones I keep for
life. When I find myself thrown together, thousands of miles from home, the shared
experiences will become unforgettable and invaluable; creating friendships that will be with
me forever. On other hand, There’s no doubt that a decision to make the move to another
country is scary. I'm leaving behind everything familiar to me, friends, and maybe even
everything that represents who I am. However, when those things are no longer in my life,
I'll be allowed to redefine myself. The stresses and successes of teaching children and
living in a new country will surely help define who I am. I have used this time to educate
myself more than ever, read a lot of books, learn a new language, and become more
spiritual. As a professional teacher, it has always been in my mind that development plays
a pivotal role in this advancing field. The significance of continuous development in an EFL
career is shown to be in persistence and having a competent spirit accompanied by
patience, therefore, since being a full-time teacher in Bangladesh is not one of the well-paid
jobs, the urge to try to work harder every day has been seen among only a few. At the same
time, novel and better practical teaching methodologies and concepts are considered a
necessity for language teachers who despite any inadequacies and imperfections of an
educational setting, are supposed to update their knowledge and skills regularly. With the
magnifying role of English in the globalized digital world, the willingness of having a
suitable level of proficiency in this language for the coming generations has already been
recognized in many countries, including mine. Although English is regarded as a foreign
language in Bangladesh, there are assorted institutions, schools, and academies that are
concentrated on languages. This does not necessarily mean that, for what I am aware of,
English is being taught as professionally as it must be. Nevertheless, the industry is
experiencing growth regarding the number of English language learners, and
consequently, the need for keeping up with the upward trend. For that reason, I decided to
take part in a CELTA course, not only to improve my skills further, but also to be able to
spread the knowledge even further, both in my country of residence and internationally.
Being a globally qualified teacher requires the willingness and passion of taking part in
challenging courses and the fact that CELTA will, indisputably, provide me with the
opportunity to become a much more eligible and certified person in the TEFL field, inspires
me to seize this opportunity and begin my path as an international teacher right after
completing the course successfully. After these years in the teaching industry, I am now
ready to take my career to the next level and CELTA for me is the first step of that ongoing
path of diligence, determination, and development. As a member of society who has more
than 15 years of work experience, I am told to be influential when it comes to
communicating with people; whether it is about the language itself or the personality and
perspective of people. This has led me to become someone who finds the most satisfaction
in educating people. Through teaching languages, I could lead several students to achieve
their occupational and immigration goals and travel to a country matching their desires. In
my opinion, people can be psychologically improved and even rehabilitated when learning
a new language and the culture which comes along with it. Learning a new language can
open new horizons to people’s mentality. What professional teachers awaken in learners'
personality is remarkably beyond their potentials. If we teach passionately, they never
cease to learn.

C. Functions

Consider the following requests. All are asking the same thing, but with different language:

Would you help me out?

2. What factors are important in deciding which of these forms should be used?

Different forms are used for showing various expressions. It depends on the importance of
the work.

3. Which of the request above would you choose to teach to a beginner class? Why?

I would use “Would you help me out?” Because this is one of the easiest requests to
remember for a beginner.

D. Vocabulary

How would you explain the difference between these words in simple terms?
1. steal/rob

Rob and steal both mean ‘take something from someone without permission.
Rob means on the place or person from which the thing is taken.
Steal means on the thing that is taken.

2. win/beat

Beat and win are two words that are used in the squad as well as individual games and
sport. In cooperation convey the similar meaning of winning but make non-natives
confused as to which one to use in a perspective.

3. skinny/thin
Skinny and thin are pretty much the identical and these two words can be used
interchangeably. An example is "You are very thin" and "You are very skinny". There is
only minor difference among skinny and thin. I would say that skinny is a word that a
younger person would use where as thin a word that an older person would use is. For
example: a mother would say to her daughter "You are getting too thin!" where as a
younger person might say "Girl, you are so skinny!". The first is not meant as a
admiring comment where as the second is. But that is not to say that thin is not a
compliment .

E.Punctuation
Rewrite the following text punctuating it and changing any words to make it seem more natural.

this is your invitation to cruise onboard the worlds most famous ship and experience
the worlds most famous ships unequalled reputation for style comfort and

F. Approaches to teaching and learning

1. Think about your experience(s) in learning a foreign language.

What do you think makes an effective language lesson?
Write no less than 200 words.
In my opinion, a good language lesson requires a teacher who is proficient in communicating
using many different methods. The teacher should be able to convey one message in several
ways while engaging the entire class. She should also be patient with her students and
understanding of the challenges that normally arise while learning something new. A good
language lesson should include phrases that can be used immediately in daily life,
colloquialisms, sentence structure, pronunciation, grammar, and spelling. These may be taught
by repetition, asking the class to repeat after the teacher, role-play, writing, word games, and
showing subtitled television programs or movies when the class needs a break from intense
learning. I think building confidence in students is very important to their progression in
learning a new language. Announced tests and surprise quizzes help students and teachers
discover how well the class is learning. When a student excels, it should be celebrated. If a
student is not progressing as fast as the rest of the class, extra tutoring should be offered. A
good teacher will be aware of where her students are in the learning process while continuing
to move the class forward as a whole. In all, a good language lesson is challenging, engaging,
productive, and constantly builds on what has already been learned. A positive and patient
approach by both student and teacher ensures a good learning experience.

2. The CELTA course requires a lot of teamwork. For example, you are required to work together
on lesson planning, as well as give and receive feedback following practice teaching sessions.
Imagine that a sensitive colleague has delivered a poor lesson. How would you present
feedback, keeping in mind the need to learn, as well as your colleague’s feelings?
Write no less than 200 words.
Providing feedback. It's a great deal more than sharing some helpful information with another
person regarding his or her work. It's a gift -- a chance to help someone improve themselves or
their work. My opinion is a reflection of him/her. The quality of it, and the time I spend giving it,
shows how much (or how little) I value the feedback process. The fact that someone is asking
me for my feedback speaks volumes. After all, someone has made himself or herself
vulnerable to me. They have invested time in their work and trust me and my professional
opinion. I hope thinking about criticism this way puts me in the right frame of mind when
evaluating someone's work

3. In some cultures, students are expected to sit in silence until asked a question. Imagine that
you are working in a classroom where you want to establish a more interactive and relaxed

environment. How would you go about doing this?

Write no less than 200 words.
To create a friendly, non-threatening classroom environment, here are some strategies I'll be
using
Greet my students each day with enthusiasm. Find something positive to say as much as
possible or as much as time will allow for.
Provide students with time to share happenings, events, or items. Even if I set a certain time
frame aside each day for 3-5 students to share, it will help to create a friendly, warm, and
comfortable environment. It shows them you care and it provides me with opportunities to
learn. Take the time on occasion to share something important to me. This could be the fact
that our child took their first steps or that you saw a wonderful play that I would like to share
with your students. My students will see me as a real and caring person. This type of sharing
shouldn't be done every day but rather from time to time.
Take time to talk about differences within the classroom. Diversity is everywhere and children
can benefit from learning about diversity at a very early age. Talk about varying cultural
backgrounds, body image, body types, talents, strengths, and weaknesses. Provide
opportunities for learners to share their strengths and weaknesses. The child who may not be
able to run fast may be able to draw very well. These conversations always need to be held in
a positive light. Understanding diversity is lifelong skill children will always benefit from. It
builds trust and acceptance in the classroom.
Say no to all forms of bullying.
Showing sensitivity to each of my students is extremely important in protecting their confidence
and self-esteem.
Promote two-way respect. I can't say enough about two-way respect. Adhere to the golden
rule, always show respect and I will get it back in return. I'll Give praise and positive
reinforcement that is real and deserved often. The more that student feels good about
themselves, the better they will be toward themselves and others.
