Proposed title for my Project Proposal: (write the proposed title for your Capstone Project in one
clear sentence:

Creating my own clothing company particularly falling into the streetwear category.

What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that
connects with a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that
you cannot just google an answer for. Please see examples from your Capstone booklet.
My inquiry question is:

What was the aesthetic I was aiming for my clothing (brand) and how will my designs
contribute to this?

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are
choosing to investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry connect
to your passion(s), purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

I've always been lost in what aesthetics my particular fashion or style fits under. It was either
because I was grappling with how I needed to be seen. I always understood from the outset
that it would be under streetwear, but there are several subcategories that often clash with it in
that particular division. Cyber y2k, minimalistic and vintage are examples of what streetwear
would be. I’ve always had a passion with styling my own fits but sometimes I wouldn’t have
the clothes that suited the aesthetic I was aiming for, so I came up with an idea where I could
design my own clothes while inputting my own ideas with the aesthetic I aspired to have.

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this

area of inquiry?

I have experience with fashion design and sketching. When I was younger, I had a big
passion for designing clothing or just sketching anything I see for fun as a hobby! I can use
these skills to help me peruse and support my clothing business for my capstone.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What
connections does this inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?

I have a few plans and ideas of what my intended careers would be. One of them is becoming
a fashion designer. For my future goals, in order for me to peruse this career, I have planned
to take fashion design under arts as a major I would be studying in the States.

For my capstone, I will be using PowToon as the platform to present my work. I will be
presenting my steps on how I got to my finished product with my project and explain why I

 came up with the idea of my brand name, the designs of my clothing and what meaning they
present.

Description of my Capstone project. Specific Project Details of the Capstone Project: what

at the end of this project for evaluation. Write a one-page description outlining your
proposal.

For my personal capstone, I’m creating my own clothing line with the designs I’ve inputted on
my hoodies. There are so many different aesthetics or styles in the fashion society, the
options are endless. I wanted to take this chance to produce new designs that I’ve always
thought of making in my own personal time. The style I’m aiming for is called Cyber y2k which
features very bright and bold colors mixed with very shiny elements that can see cuts of black
mixed in to make the bold styles really stand out. My designs are mostly a mixture of both
warm and cool tones making the base of the hoodie dark creating the brand name plus
designs to pop out with their bold colors. I sadly don’t have any artifacts or in other words, the
physical hoodie to present due to the limit of time given and the multiple designs I’ve created
which will also be causing me to order multiple hoodies to show everyone. This will be all
shown in the final capstone presentation.

Resources/ Technology/Skills: Make an assessment of the resources, technology and

skills you will need to be able to complete this project. What is your plan to be able to
access/learn all of the resources necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail
your plans.

I will be needing my laptop and phone to complete this capstone. Having some common
knowledge about sketching and background information of the topic fashion is needed to
successfully finish the project. I will be using the platform, PowToon to present and introduce
what my topic is about and present the information that I’ve research about.

Mentors/Community Connections: What types of mentor(s)/community connections will

you need to help you complete your capstone project? How will your mentor(s) help you?
What is your plan to access the mentorship/community connections necessary for this
project?

A friend of mine I’ve chosen will be my mentor over the time I work on my capstone. She’s
one of my closest family friends with experience in the fashion industry. She is able to help me

 with designs and making everything flow well together for my clothing brand. She also used to
have a small business with clothing pieces she’s designed herself so I’m able to work with her
with building up what I have done so far, learning from skills she’s developed.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee
that might affect progress with your Capstone Project?

Some of the limitations of my capstone that I’ve ran into was having the physical hoodie of my
design here to show as an artifact for part of my capstone. Since the time we have is now
shortened, it’s really difficult for me to order in the product and for it to ship on time. The
pricing is also another limitation of my capstone. Depending on how detailed your design is or
how many different designs you have, the pricing varies, and it is way beyond my budget at
the moment.

Other considerations: List and detail any other related information/ considerations about
your project that you feel should be included in your project proposal.

In my presentation, I plan to physically bring my sketchbook and show them the physical copy
of my work even if I already took pictures of it and input them in the PowToon. I want them to
know that it was my work and show evidence.

designers wanting an idea of how the clothes would look on a model. According to their
website, the whole purpose is not to draw a realistic-looking figure, but to show sketches of
dresses, shirts, blouses, accessories and the rest of your designs on a blank canvas of
sorts. Adding as much detail to your model helps bring your creation to life.

This website was helpful in providing me with useful information regarding how I can sketch my
figure models so I’m able to bring the creations of my hoodies to life. This way I can roughly sketch
an example of an ideal outfit that would go well with my pieces of clothing.

This website was useful in providing me information that I’m able to use with how I’m going choose
my color scheme to help with how I want to represent my brand and also with the logo which will
be the brand’s name. It includes so much detail with steps on how to choose brand colors.

The different types of arts and graphics related to this topic are also part of the article as
well.

This website provided me with background knowledge of Y2K which is the information required for
me to understand more about what it is so I’m on the right path. Understanding the types of colors,
designs and the history of it is a big help with my capstone.

According to the website, starting your own clothing line can be quite the challenge but
making a business plan and knowing what exactly you’re doing will help you flow through
everything smoothly.

This website helped me a handful because it gave me the idea of starting a business plan or in
other words, a plan to help me see clearly what exactly I’m going to be using in my capstone. This
article definitely will be a useful guideline for the journey of my capstone.

This website provided me with tips on how I can come up with a brand name that’s suitable for the
aesthetic of my clothing line. My brand logo will be the brand name so having it match with the

aesthetic I’m giving off.
