PROJECT-2: Haathi Gaon, Churmura. U.P. MAX. MARKS:60

Introduction:
Haathi Gaon is a man-made village intended for sole habitat of elephant specie. As per elephant
habitat nature and behavior pattern, the project aims to fulfill their needs , and desirable activities .
The campus would be visual /interactive place for human and elephants. The daily chores of
elephant would be the sole basis of design programme around the clock. In addition to campus
intended for elephant habitat , there will be interactive and social spaces for tourists and visitors.

Client: Private Organization


Users: Tourist and Animal / Nature Lovers

Project Objectives:
Introducing site planning as the project aims to have less than 30% of ground coverage

• To understand the organization of buildings/ function on site and their relationship with each other.

• To formulate the built and open space as a parallel design process.

• To understand the principles of site planning.

 Organization of multi-use activities horizontally.

 Creating private and public zones

 Addressing a more complex circulation

 Understanding community and social interactions between the people

Challenges & Opportunities:


 Organisation of various building blocks so as to create interesting outdoor spaces of various types :
Outdoor Recreational Spaces , Outdoor Congregation Spaces etc.

 Understanding and evolving suitable relationship between open, semi open and closed spaces.
There is a world outside our built environments which needs to be explored and nurtured in best
possible way.

 Relating the style of buildings and outdoor spaces so as to evolve a integrated and holistic picture of
a "campus”.

Site planning and designing of buildings would be a parallel process in the studio exercises / reviews .

Location: Churmura .Uttar Pradesh.


Accessibility: 12.0 mt road
Area: 18000sqm

Program: Proposed built-up area: 2500sq m approximately

# Area program may change as per the standard study conducted by students.

Expected Outcome:

 A comprehensive Master Plan as a design output in addition to the building plans and
elevations
 Building Designs and their style to be extrapolated to even the elements of the overall site
(example walls, fences ,seating's , outdoor elements etc.) that has been planned and
designed.
 Understanding the Scale of Open Spaces that are generally not conceived while buildings
are planned on an individual basis.
Pre Design Studies:
Pre-Design Observation & Analysis:
- Site Analysis: Studies about site location, orientation, accessibility, context, topography,
existing natural potential, physical, geographical factors, etc.
- Built Criteria: Building spatial layout and expression based on identification of buildable and
non-buildable zones, orientation, views/ vistas, approach, circulation, etc.
- User Responsive Program: Framing the program requirements with respect to the user
activities planned and the project typology.
Material: Selection of materials based on the construction technology identified and with respect to
the local trend and availability
