Haathi Gaon - Pro 2.
Introduction:
Haathi Gaon is a man-made village intended for sole habitat of elephant specie. As per elephant
habitat nature and behavior pattern, the project aims to fulfill their needs , and desirable activities .
The campus would be visual /interactive place for human and elephants. The daily chores of
elephant would be the sole basis of design programme around the clock. In addition to campus
intended for elephant habitat , there will be interactive and social spaces for tourists and visitors.
Project Objectives:
Introducing site planning as the project aims to have less than 30% of ground coverage
• To understand the organization of buildings/ function on site and their relationship with each other.
Understanding and evolving suitable relationship between open, semi open and closed spaces.
There is a world outside our built environments which needs to be explored and nurtured in best
possible way.
Relating the style of buildings and outdoor spaces so as to evolve a integrated and holistic picture of
a "campus”.
Site planning and designing of buildings would be a parallel process in the studio exercises / reviews .
Site:
# Area program may change as per the standard study conducted by students.
Expected Outcome:
A comprehensive Master Plan as a design output in addition to the building plans and
elevations
Building Designs and their style to be extrapolated to even the elements of the overall site
(example walls, fences ,seating's , outdoor elements etc.) that has been planned and
designed.
Understanding the Scale of Open Spaces that are generally not conceived while buildings
are planned on an individual basis.
Pre Design Studies:
Pre-Design Observation & Analysis:
- Site Analysis: Studies about site location, orientation, accessibility, context, topography,
existing natural potential, physical, geographical factors, etc.
- Built Criteria: Building spatial layout and expression based on identification of buildable and
non-buildable zones, orientation, views/ vistas, approach, circulation, etc.
- User Responsive Program: Framing the program requirements with respect to the user
activities planned and the project typology.
Material: Selection of materials based on the construction technology identified and with respect to
the local trend and availability
