    Identification and analysis of the company’s distinctive competencies:

    The distinctive competencies of a company are built by the resources and capabilities of that

    company. Therefore, the resources and capabilities of IMB along with its cloud computing

    features are discussed below:

    Tangible Resources:

    ● IBM Cloud and its cognitive computing features required layers of infrastructure to get

    developed. This required tangible assets such as network devices, servers, storage discs etc.

    (IBM, Developer Works, Cloud computing building blocks).

    Intangible Resources:

    ● The goodwill of IBM very strong in the market of its cloud and computing sector

    ● The brand name itself is giving a lot of good opportunities to IBM in the cloud computing

    sector of its business. (IBM, Developer Works, IBM Cloud)

    ● In 2017, IBM inventors received 9043 patents to its inventors, (The developer Works Blog,

    2018)

    Capabilities:

    ● Enterprise readiness: IBM Cloud is capable of taking big companies into the cloud and

    therefore the parties such as governments and numerous enterprises could get the benefit

    from IMB in terms of security and performance. The IBM Cloud company is better than any

    other company in terms of having all the desired and required information of any enterprise

    from diverse sectors. (Meer, 2018)

    ● Data volume and speed: IBM Cloud enables the users to transfer cloud videos and other

    data in a large volume and very quickly over the public and private IP networks. This enables
    the users to decrease their data transferring cost and also increases efficiency in terms of data

    transfer among them. Therefore, it becomes convenient for the customers who need to

    transfer or exchange high volume of data o n a daily basis.  (Radu, 2018)

    ● Data management: The IBM Cloud has the capabilities of having effective, efficient and

    secured data management system. It has distinctive object storage across numerous clouds

    and also has breakthrough analytics. They are well aware of their customers and they know it

    well how to handle their customers’ data perfectly. (Meer, 2018)

    ● Infused with cognitive: The cognitive Watson technology is merged with IBM which

    enabled the users of IBM Cloud to have direct access to it. Thus, the users can perform a lot

    of fascinating tasks with the data on this platform. Besides, it also provides the feature of

    processing natural language in order to do the tasks such as pattern recognition, and analysis

    of visual content and machine learning. (Meer, 2018)

    ● Secure in the core: Advanced encrypted technology is followed by the IMB Cloud which

    ensures the customers an integrated security and compliance with in it. By the use of a very

    advanced encryption technology called geo-fencing, enables the customers to have a

    complete control over their data. And the customers could be aware of the placement of their

    data and where it remains. (Meer, 2018)
