1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to provide guidelines to ensure that adequate

provision is made during the engineering design stage of “PROYECTO DE
MODERNIZACIÓN DE LA REFINERIA DE TALARA” to allow for typical connections of
equipment and piping in a safe manner.

The following documents are intended as a general guide to locate, define, and size
typical connections for equipment and piping.

2. SCOPE

This document covers the philosophy to follow for the piping systems and equipment
that require provisions for typical connections. These requirements supplement the
minimum requirements indicated by the Codes under which the piping systems or
equipment are to be designed

3. INDEX

This table shows in which Specification are included the different typical connections.

4. TYPICAL DRAIN CONNECTIONS

DESIGN NOTES

- To identify a typical drain connection, type, size and material specification will be required.

- The characteristics for typical drain connection components will be those indicated in the
material specification assigned for the typical connection.

- Any fitting to be installed which is not included as a typical connection component, will be
considered part of the header.

- Any typical drain connection not included in this document and required for a specific
service, will be defined, numbered and included.

- Valves will be positioned as close as possible to the header.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES

- The characteristics for typical drain connection components will be those indicated in the
material specification assigned for the typical connection.

- The most suitable orientation of valve stems will be determined on Site, unless specified
otherwise.

- The branch block valves will be located as close as possible to the header, bearing in mind
that they must be positioned outside the insulation area in order to allow for easy handling,
and that the minimum distance between welds is 50 mm.
