    Location of Palika
    History and Construction

    Initially, connaught place was Palika bazaar cam e i n t o


    a commercial hub with picture only in the late 70s as
    connectivity all around. a tourist attraction and the
    Designed in georgin style first underground air
    architecture modeled from the conditioned park as a vision
    crescent in Bath. Earlier used of sanjay gandhi.

    and jackals among the kikar

    The 3 Main Nodes

    Palika Bazaar
    The connaught place is one of the three
    main nodes of Delhi with high
    Sansad Marg interconnectivity. There are 3 main Axes
    between these three nodes and The
    Sansad Marg is one of them connecting
    Parliament house and Connaught place.
    Parliament House
    Palika bazaar falls on this axis and hence
    to avoid visual barrier for the axis, it is
    built underground.

    Rashtrapathi Bhavan
    Landmarks

    Connaught place is filled with public spaces and


    commercial buildings. The central park becomes a
    vantage point to attract public which has led to infill
    of commercial spaces. The place is filled with
    restaurants, pubs, cinemas, shopping complexes, etc.
    Parking Pedestrian Vehicular

    Connaught place has an inner circle, intermediate circle and


    an outer circle, the inner circle and outer circle have vehicular
    movement clockwise and the intermediate circle has anti
    clockwise. There are radial road connections into the circle.
    Intially all 7 roads were 2 way but now they're one ways
    with 3 roads going outwards and 4 roads going inwards

    The area above is divided into 3 levels. The terrace portion is a
    complete green land at a raised level with skylights from below.
