The document provides planning guidelines for installing E.CAM medical imaging systems, including dimensional drawings, room examples, and technical specifications for components.

The main components discussed are the gantry, patient bed, collimator cart, color monitor, electronics tower, and patient positioning monitor. Accessories like options and peripherals are also mentioned.

The document notes that factors like errors in reading a tape measure, size variations between units, rounding errors, and conversion mistakes between metrics and imperial can all contribute to measurement errors of around 1% when planning an installation.

2 Notes and Symbols

NOTES:
1. option -
An accessory component that is inside or attached to a
stand-alone unit. Options will not be included in this planning guide.
2. peripheral -
An accessory component that stands alone and has its own footprint.
Peripherals will be included in this planning guide.
Peripherals included are:
Patient Bed
Collimator Cart
Color Monitor
Electronics Tower

3. measurement error -
The following factors contribute to errors in component measurements (W, D, H),
room measurements, component movements, etc.:
1. error in reading tape measure
2. size differences from unit to unit
3. rounding off errors
4. conversion errors (English to Metric)
Therefore all measurements will include a ±1.0% error tolerance.
4. weights and measures -
All weights are reported in metric (kilograms, kg) form, followed by its English
conversion (pounds or kg x 2.2): for example, 100kg(220 lb)
All measurements are reported in metric (centimeters, cm) form, followed by its
English conversion (inches or cm / 2.54): for example, 5.08(2")
SYMBOLS:

denotes the reference point for the center of rotation; where applicable

2 or 2 denotes an identification number for a component or device

FRONT COVER CALLOUTS:

1 - Gantry
1b - Detector/Tub with High Energy Collimator
1c - Floor Plate
2 - Patient Bed
2b - Electronics Enclosure (Tower)
3 - Patient Positioning Monitor (PPM)

NOTES:
L1 = load distribution 1 = plug-in = hard-wired

For Europe:
*1 = CEE form socket outlet, 3-pole, 230V, 50/60 Hz, 32 Amp, 6h
System is shipped with tower attachment plug, NEMA L6-30P. To use system with this plug, use receptacle, NEMA L6-30R.

Attachment Plug
If the attachment plug provided by SMS must be replaced to fit into the local electrical outlet, please
note that the Electrical Buildings Codes of most countries require that the attachment plug must be
acceptable for use with a current not less than 125% of the rated current of the equipment. For
E.CAM, the current rating of the plug must be a minimum of 25A in most countries.

Surge Protector
At those installations where the acquisition computer is installed away from the gantry and is
plugged into a separate outlet, a Surge Protector must be installed in the line cord of the acquisition
computer. The Surge Protector must be obtained locally to fit local plugs and sockets. It must be an
approved type acceptable to the authorities in the country where the equipment is used.
The Surge Protector must meet the following requirements:
1. Operating Line Voltage: per local requirements (120 VAC in the US)
2. Operating Line Current: Per local common usage (15 Amps min in the US)
3. Wattage: 1800 Watts minimum
4. Energy Dissipation: 200 Joules minimum
5. Frequency: 50 or 60 HZ per local requirements
6. Surge Current: 6500 Amps minimum with a 8 x 20 usec waveform
7. Modes of Surge Protection: hot to neutral, hot to ground, neutral to ground
8. Clamping Response Time: 1 Nanosecond or faster
9. Surge Voltage: 6000 Volts minimum
10. Suppressed Voltage: 400 Volts max

SMS - NMG 43 81 823, Rev. 08 04-01 E.CAM

17A Power Installation

Power Cord
When the E.soft computer is placed outside the Tower, the power cord provided for the equipment
must be an approved type acceptable to the authorities in the country where the equipment is used.
The cord must be purchased locally, it is not supplied with the system.

In a remote configuration, the monitor should be plugged into the rear of the e.soft computer using
the cord provided.
