01-111182-056 Question: Explain what comes to your mind after watching the picture. Answer: This picture tells about the gradual human progress throughout the life span. The first thing is to be PROACTIVE which means I have to take charge I make good, responsible choices without being asked, even when no one is looking. In this step I basically sow a seed to grow tree. Second step is to BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND. Which means I must have a plan. I plan ahead and set goals. I do things that have meaning and make a difference. I plan to grow that tree for the fruits in future. Then comes the third step that is to PUT FIRST THING FIRST. I spend my time on things that are most important. This means I say no to things I know I should not do. I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow my plan to grow that tree for which I have to be disciplined and organized. Then comes the fourth step that is to THINK WIN-WIN. Which means everyone can win. I balance courage for getting what I want with consideration for what others want. I make deposits in others’ Emotional Bank Accounts. When conflicts arise, I look for third alternatives. If anyone has problem with my tree then I should have choice in which no one loses. The fifth step is “SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD” which means listen before you talk. I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings. I try to see things from their viewpoints. I listen to others without interrupting. I am confident in voicing my ideas. Basically I have to listen to the person who has problem with my tree and then make them understand about my plans. The sixth step is to SYNERGIZE. Which means together is better. I value other people’s strengths and learn from them. I get along well with others, even people who are different than me. I work well in groups. I seek out other people’s ideas to solve problems because I know that by teaming with others we can create better solutions than anyone of us can alone. The seventh step is SHARPEN THE SAW which convey a message that balance feels best. Am I taking care of myself? Am I spending time with family and friends? Or just thinking about my plans and wanted to get them done in hurry. I have learned in lots of ways and lots of places, not just at school to make that balance between work and social life and it feels the best.
