1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to ensure that various aspects of EHS are monitored in accordance
with regulatory & customer requirements confirming to IMS policy & objectives of Nesma Telecom &
technology (NTT).
2. SCOPE
The process provides the framework to develop, implement, monitor, review and continuously
improve EHS objectives, targets and performance standards to eliminate or minimize our exposure
to operational risks to as low as reasonably possible.
3. RESPONSIBLITIES
• Head of Organizational units are responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of
this process;
• EHS team is responsible to monitor and regular check for the effectivity of implementation.
• Employees are responsible for reporting of Health & safety related issues to line
management;
• Site EHS is responsible for supporting Site Managers for EHS compliance & reporting of EHS
parameters.
4. PROCESS
1- NTT has established, implemented and maintained a procedure to monitor and measure EHS
performance on regular basis as below:
• Proactive measures of performance that monitor conformance with the EHS
program(s), controls and operational criteria;
• Reactive measures of performance that monitor ill health, incidents (including
accidents, near-misses, etc.), and other historical evidence of deficient EHS
performance;
• Monitoring the performance of EHS objectives ;
• Recording and analysis of data to facilitate subsequent corrective action and
preventive action.
2- Environmental monitoring covers all the key characteristics of NTT operations that can have a
significant environmental impact. It includes documenting of information to monitor performance,
applicable operational controls and conformity with the organization's environmental objectives and
targets.
3- Calibrated instruments are used for measuring the required parameters like noise, illumination,
etc.
4- Where monitoring with equipment is carried out by a third party, calibration records are
obtained.
5. Proactive monitoring
Proactive monitoring includes:
• Method statement & Risk assessment;
• Compliance to legal requirement;
• Training plan & its implementation;
• Regular meeting with contractors at site;
• Internal & external audits.
6. Reactive monitoring
Reactive EHS measurements include:
• Reporting of various Safety parameters like lost time injuries (LTI), First aid cases, etc.;
• Incident investigation;
• Actions required following assessments by regulators;
• Actions following receipt of comments from interested parties.
7. Reporting
• The EHS Manager is responsible for collecting the EHS information from various project sites
and presenting to Management;
• EHS department facilitate on incident investigation and reporting to regulatory bodies
customer as the case may require.
8. In the event of customer supplied processes to be followed, NTT shall follow the same as per
client requirement and those documents shall be part of client intellectual property, which will
not be produced until written approval from client.
