INTRODUCTION
It is very difficult to find that an accident has occurred and to find the location where it has
occurred. It is more difficult for the lives of victims until any person know the information
and informed it to the emergency vehicles like ambulance or to the hospitals. And Every year
thousands of vehicles are stolen in the roads and unsecured car park. Sometimes, steals try
to steel the vehicle parts by opening doors or breaking glass. Because of this people are
afraid to park the vehicles in the road or unknown car parks. To avoid this problem many
designs and techniques have been designed and implemented in the vehicles. However
designing a vehicle tracking system and interfacing the monitoring by the owners
mobile phone will be the absolute solution for the current situation and the need.
Wireless innovation has tilted the odds in favor of success like never before. This
report details how the Vehicle tracking and Accident alerting system is going to be
implemented. In this project we program GPS, GSM modules to report the Location where the
accident occurred automatically via the GSM communication platform using Short message
service to the agencies such as hospitals, police stations, fire services giving the exact
position where the accident had occurred. This can provide early response and rescue for
accident victims , saving their lives. Also in case of any theft this system provides the user to
track the vehicle location in terms of Latitude and Longitude. This project is cost effective and
is based on Arduino Uno(ATmega328microcontroller). This controller is used to co-ordinate
all the activities in the system.

M
To design Vehicle Tracking and Accident Alerting System with the help
of GPS(Global Positioning System) and GSM (Global System for Mobile
Communications ) Technologies.
OBJECTIVES
To achieve this aim, the following tasks are to be carried out.
I. This project aims at decreasing the mortality rates which occur due to
time delay between the crash and the first responder at the accident
site.
II. To provide the owner to track his vehicle any time via mobile phone .
LITERATURE SURVEY
In the recent past, there have been many technological developments. With the help of
those technologies we could find the position of the Vehicle in case of any theft or an
accident
Fig:1
OVERVIEW OF TECHNOLOGIS USED:
After an accident occurs disturbance is created in Impact ,vibration sensors will detect
signal or If vehicle rolls over, a Micro electro mechanical system (MEMS) sensor will
detects the signal ,In case of any Fire accident the IR flame sensor will gets triggered
and sends it to Arduino(ATmega328).
When ATmega328 reads the signal from MEM sensor, Impact sensors , Fire sensor it
sends the signal to GPS module to give the exact value of Latitude and Longitude .
The GSM module used in the system has a provision for SIM( subscriber
identification module) .We program the GSM module such that by using a SIM the
GSM sends the information fetched from the GPS i.e., Latitude and Longitude of the
vehicle in the form of SMS (short Message Service) to the Medical recue team,
Police control room, Fire Station , Near and Dear one’s of the Driver
SMS is governed by GSM service provider of the owner.
The applications for this project are in military, navigation, automobiles , aircrafts
etc.
Fleet Management
Commercial fleet operators are by far the largest users of vehicles.
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
In case of bad whether conditions and when the user is in areas where the mobile
networks are no strong then it will be difficult to send the fetched data from the satellite
via GSM network.
Expected Results / Conclusions
I. When vehicle met with an accident it will send the Location of the vehicle in terms of
Latitude and Longitude to the phone numbers in program dumped in Arduino (i.e.,
near and dear one’s, Ambulance, hospital, fire station )
Fig: 5
II. In case of any theft the owner has to send SMS or make a call, immediately he will
get an SMS containing the vehicle’s Longitude and Latitude.

CONCLUSION
Every human life is precious and worth saving . Life should not end on road
waiting for help in a crash. This projects shouts out for help where we are
unable to shout for help. Few models had been developed previously on
Vehicle monitoring and Tracking . Our project aims at developing a more
compact , precise and accurate model.
