Summary of the Research
I chose to research about the political differences in the United States. I found
that the United States is pretty split when it comes to how they feel about who should be
in charge. The major parties that make up most of the voters is Democratic and
Republican. Some people will vote Libertarian but not many. During the election of
2020, every voter had their own opinions on the opponents running. Democrats said
that if Trump would have won, the country would be in harm. Republicans said that if
Biden won the election, then the country would be in trouble for the next 4 years. This
election alone caused a lot of disagreements between Americans and split the nation in
half. I researched how this election split the nation and how it affected people and their

Summary of the Interview
interviewed her is because we have different opinions on political issues and party
affiliations. When I asked her about her experiences as a member of the Democratic
party, she stated that her whole family also supported the Democratic party so she felt
as if she had quite a bit of people that thought the same way she did. She said that it
was nice to be able to talk to people close to her that also liked and supported the
things she did. Ever since Kirsten had learned about politics, she had supported most of
the things that were affiliated with the Democratic Party. Some characteristics she
stated about people who support this party were supportive, strong-willed, united, and
everything you do in life. So of course, there are some to supporting a political party.
The biggest one disadvantage for me is the side comments from other party supporters
who make fun or get angry with me and my opinions.” When I asked Kirsten how she
felt about what people should know about the party, she stated that she wanted people
to know that not all democratic supporters are bad. Just like there are bad supporters of
republicans, there are bad apples for every group you are affiliated with.

Personal Reflection
During the time I took to do my research, I still had the same opinions about how
I felt about the Democratic and Republican parties. I knew that this election had split the
nation in half, and it affected relationships between people. But after doing the interview
with my friend Kirsten, it made me take a step back and realize that many people often
think the same thing about Republicans. I still do not support the things that Democrats
support and advocate for, but I do support the belief of choosing what you want to
support. I would never judge someone for believing in something. That is not right. So
during the interview, I kept an open mind and listened to everything she had to say!
