“It is not enough to stare up the steps, we must step up the stairs!

These words have always had a constant impression on me. Not everything in life is easy and
free, you have to either earn it or work really hard and pay for it. I truly believe that the skills I
developed during my undergraduate study in Architecture have provided me with the foundation
for my higher studies.

I went to School at Presentation Convent, Chennai andI had an opportunity to closely interact with
people of different cultures andever since a kid I found myself very happy to interact with the
people of different taste, sentiments and culture. My suggestions were always welcomed when it
comes to personal as well as in family business strategies and policies among family members. It
gave me good confidence in my own decisions. Thus, drives my desire to do higher studies
abroad.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

During my early studies I had no clue about Architecture. But I knew I wanted to do something
creative. My passion for arts was identified by my mom when I was in 8th grade.I had obtained
91% in the secondary School leaving certificate and passed out in the year 2013. Also, obtained
81% in the higher secondary course certificate and passed out in the year 2015.

My first biggest decision which set the path for my career was choosing to get enrolled
inMc’GansOoty school of architecture and pursued a Bachelors Degree in architecture.I always
had a desire to know how things work, wanted to learn by experience, solve challenging
problems and lead an independent life by myself. Architecture as an art has always fascinated me
,with the designing and use of aesthetics involved to produce visibly pleasurable structures being
the center of my interest.

In addition to my academic activities, I have also participated in many extra curricular activities
events in my College and received certificates and prizesat the Inter College Level. and My first
professional understanding of Sustainable Architecture was with Dr. GauriShiurkar during my
CMDA Documentation program in 3rd year.

At college, besides regular studies, I was participating in ANDC Trophy for 58th NASA and
attended 59th NASA held at Poornima University, Jaipur for Participating in ANDC , REUBENS
and The Laurie baker trophy. I have also participated in IGBC lecture which was offered in my
college.and Ialso travel across the country to explore several architectural wonders of India.
These events, tours and participations helped me a lot to gain the concept of working in, with and
as a team.

WHY MASTERS IN SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE?

Dr.GauriShiurkar during my CMDA Documentation taught me the Importance of Sustainable
future. That period has proven to be a learning experience that has added a new dimension to my
inter-personal skills and knowledge in the sphere of Sustainable architecture and still continues
to do so. I believe that my interest in the Sustainable architecture have set to perform such a
study.

After completing my masters degree and gaining the necessary knowledge in sustainable
architecture, I will seek to change the lives of people in the community by promoting the

their knowledge toensure better understanding of sustainable greener future for buildings, and to
promote better understanding of sustainability on a far wider world.
