My Own Teaching Method

1) You need to choose two methods from the ones we studied.

The Natural Approach
 The Natural Approach focuses on understanding foreign
language messages, and little or no attention is paid to error
correction, drilling, or conscious learning of grammatical
rules. They also emphasize learning a broad vocabulary
foundation rather than learning new grammatical structures.
The Lexical Approach
 The Lexical Approach is a method of analyzing and teaching
language based on the idea that language is a unit rather than
a grammatical structure. The units are words, chunks formed
by collocations, and fixed phrases.

2) Name your method.

The Lexical Approach to Natural Teaching.

3) Explain the reasons you chose those two methods, and the
characteristics of each.

 From my point of view, this method
is the most widely used because it
emphasizes understanding and
creates an appropriate classroom
environment, making second
language acquisition easier and
more satisfying.

of communication because they are

native speakers of the language.
 Also, this method allows the learner
to look for ways to speak that
language because the lexical
approach says that by combining
words we can have different
meanings than what it really means.

4) Based on your approach you will make the methodological

decisions about:

 The mother tongue should not be

used in the classroom.

The aims of the course  Learning must be active.

 This method is for beginners.

 Students must dominate a large

amount of vocabulary of the
language to be learned.

 L1 is totally excluded from the

classroom and L2 will always be
the one that is being learned.

What to teach  Students should reflect and practice

using new knowledge and skills.

 The students will be available to

perceive vocabularies and basic
verbs.
 Visualization: help students to
understand how their learning
applies in the real-world.

 Self-learning: curiosity is the main

driver of learning. The key is to let
students focus on exploring an area
Teaching techniques which interests them and learn
about it for themselves.

 Debate: This is a discussion

technique about a topic; to debate
in class, it is not necessary to
provide solutions, but to analyze a
topic and put forward different
points of view.

VISUALIZATION
 The use of interactive whiteboard to
display photos.
 The use of audio and videos.
 Encouraging your students to get
out of their seats with classroom
experiments and local field trips.

SELF-LEARNING
 Record what's important.
 Read thinking and questioning.
Activity types  Talk to others.
 Be curious.

DEBATE
 Know the subject and document
yourself.
 Be brief and concise.
 Respect opinions.
 Know how to defend opinions that
are not yours.
 Be aware of non-verbal language.
 Be a good loser.

 Diagnostic evaluation: Evaluates

a student's strengths,
weaknesses, knowledge and
abilities.
 Formative evaluation: Evaluates
the performance of a student
during the training.

 Summative evaluation:

 Evaluation by means: Compare

with others classmates.
