Alternator / Water Pump Belt Tensioning Procedure
Effective immediately, all manually tensioned belts are to be checked with the Burroughs BT‐33‐73F belt
tension gauge. After setting initial belt tension and tightening alternator/idler pulley hardware, inspect belt
tension. Depress ball handle and insert gauge hook below belt as shown in figure below.
Once the belt is hooked, release the ball handle quickly with a snapping action. Verify belt tension is within
tolerance ranges below. If belt tension is outside tolerance range, loosen hardware, adjust tension, tighten
hardware and recheck belt tension until within tolerance range.
