1.Why to study Computer, Information system, and MIS


a. Why to study Computer?

The drives of people to study computers are:


Computers are the Window of the World that user can get information globally where the
infrastructures are fully functioning like internet to that make computers to be function virtually.
Now it is digital era where all are relying on computers and software programming. Besides, it
becomes the central part of organizations in such as: in health, education and research, business
including banks, security and other immense of applications are functionally because of
computers.

Computers are the Capital to Get Jobs. Practically all companies are demanding that their
employees be able to operate computers. Usually, they provide minimum requirements for
mastering Microsoft Office Word and Excel programs. Moreover, computers make it easy for us
to perform tasks and enables employee gets a job from their office, using a computer, their job is
done quickly.

Computers can save paper use and it stores data which will not be lost as long as the computer's
hard drive is still functioning properly. The approach of computer makes users to be creative and
innovative which facilitates remote communication

b. Why to study IS
Information Systems is about how businesses can make the best use of computer technology to
provide the information needed to achieve their goals. Everybody’s’ life is heavily dependent of
information and where an organization will be shaped and changed. The People, data, and processes
are the other parts of the pie that make up the information system.

The drives people to study Information systems are:


Information systems used in most professions such as businesses sectors information systems to
increase revenues and reduce costs. It is interrelated entity that Collect (input), manipulate

(process), store, and disseminate (output) data and information, and provide a corrective reaction
(feedback mechanism) to meet an objective (Gupta 2011).

c. Why to Study Management Information Systems?


Management information system (MIS) is an organized collection of people, procedures,
software, databases, and devices that provides routine information to managers and decision
makers Gautham et al., 2012. Basic drives to study MIS, is to make and understand the role of
information technology in the company, also enables how technology can be used to solve
business problems and create new business opportunities. Moreover, modern businesses can’t
survive for long without using MIS offer and manage immense amounts of data, and there are
plenty of opportunities to study or work in the discipline.

In business, management information system is a tool to support processes, operations,


intelligence, and information technologies. Also, produce a scheduled report which can be
created on a regular basis to enable based on report guidelines and rules, and can produce Ad-
hoc reports in planned way: As well as used to produce a real-time report which allows to
monitor changes as they occur instantly which helps managers to get overviews of the entire
operations also allows to get feedback about their performance.

One over the other key advantages is to maximize benefits of investment including workflow
improvement of business and attaining efficient decision making for the organization (8).
Generally, information generated via MIS have immense such as relevancy, timely accessible
and completeness includes geographical coverage and in terms of range/amount of data it is
supposed to provide validity, reliability which is consistent.

Qn2. How do information systems influence modern business?


Information systems is essential tool to undertake day to day activities. The competitiveness of
the organization is based on the effective use of information system. The efficient use of
information system is giving diverse opportunities to ease decision making process via giving
critical data for the managers. Moreover, it allows organization to identify and approach new
venture on doing business. It furthered allows

Business to increase their economic, reducing of cost via integrating diverse systems, increase
efficiency due to its interactive and contemporary architecture. An information system is
becoming a change agent in the organization and it is going farther from automation of operation
and supporting the existing system. Efficient and effective management is necessary to enjoy
benefits of IS (Elshalom E, 2016). It also provides Timely Information: The accounting
information system provide business and other users with timely financial information (financial
Report). This information helps users and business with strategic planning, budgets and other
valuable information for payroll, bank reconciliation and creation of spreadsheet.
Easy to Use: Raw data are entered directly into computers; the system processes any calculation,
manipulations, reports and reconciliation. Taddesse Kebede, 2015. Information system influence
of information technologies on the socio-economic processes and modern social transformations
especially in the context of building an information society (O. Kudrina, 2019).
