CORE PRODUCT OFFERING

Evolution of Leopold underdrain
design

Leader in
design and
Not a follower

7
Leopold Underdrains to type S & type SL blocks

8
Single pass vs dual pass systems

Dual pass means: lower maldistribution (<5% for 15m laterals),

more efficient backwash, better water quality
Water Recovery Channel

(55-92 m/hr) (18-92 m/hr)

Baffle Reduces Level Sensitivity
Type XA ™ Underdrain
THE NEWCOMER TO THE FAMILY
Best uplift resistance

Superior Performance with patent pending

grout pockets

• The patent pending grout pocket withstands

uplift pressures up to 30 psi (>2.0 bar).

• Water recovery channels provide the same,

uniform air scour found in all genuine
Leopold Underdrains.

• Innovative dual parallel lateral and interior

Dual water
baffles ensures the same superior backwash recovery channels
air and water distribution.

13
Superior Versatility
• Low 8.25 inch (21 cm) profile

• Up to 32 feet (9.75 meters) for front flume or

wall feed; 64 feet (19.5 meters) with center
feed flume.

• Compatible with wall sleeve, center flume or

front flumes, and the Leopold flat bottom
flume.

Design: orifice plate
Purpose of orifice plate
• Transition for poor wall sleeve locations
• Control air/water interface
• Improve air and water distribution

Air Header Pipes

There Are Two Types:

- J Risers - with Air Header Inside Flume

- Drop Pipes - with Overhead Air Header

Troughs
MAKING THE SYSTEM WORK BY ITSELF
Trough details
Flexibility in design
• Material: FRP, but also steel.
• Biggest: 24” x 32”.
• Beams to limit deflection and in long troughs.
• Stabilizers and spreaders to rigidize structure. On top and bottom for troughs >21” deep

36
Troughs
Should have good clearance from top of media to bottom of trough

• Flat base (traps air) and no media gap leads to media

MAKING THE SYSTEM WORK BY ITSELF
What is Filterworx®?
•A complete filter control system specifically designed for each
customer.
•Optimizes the filtration process reducing operating costs.
•Designs range from complete manual control systems to automated
systems that require minimal operator intervention (or a combination
of both).
•Various control schemes, such as declining rate, constant effluent rate
of flow, constant filter level and constant influent channel level.

•Consists of Four (4) Major Components

– Filter Control Panel
– Field Instrumentation
– Automated Valves
– Optional SCADA Interface
